Patna: The Bihar Police Headquarter in a press release on Tuesday, December 31 informed that the probe into the Sasaram alleged firing case involving the murder of a person identified as Rana Omprakash alias Badal has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The case pertains to an alleged firing incident involving Sasaram Traffic deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Mohammad Adil Belal and his bodyguard Chandramauli Nagiya on the night of December 27.
The department has also asked DSP Bilal and his bodyguard Nagiya to report to the police headquarter with immediate effect. As many as three separate FIRs have been filed in the Town Police Station in Rohtas district in connection with the case.
According to the details of the FIR filed by DSP’s bodyguard Nagiya, a group of men attacked him while trying to snatch away his service revolver. A bullet was fired accidently while he fired another shot in self-defence. The incident occurred when Nagiya along with the DSP reportedly chased two men on a motorcycle who tried to flee after seeing the police vehicle.
Another FIR in the case deals with the recovery of the liquor bottles and other articles from the spot, naming unknown individuals. The third FIR in the case was filed on the statement of deceased brother Rahul Ranjan.
Ranjan has alleged that his brother along with others was celebrating a birthday party when DSP Bilal arrived at the spot and tried extorting money from the people enjoying the party. This led to a verbal confrontation between the police and the men resulting in his brother’s death and bullet injuries to two other persons.
The injured individuals have been identified as Binod Singh and Atul Singh both friends of deceased Rana Omprakash.
Meanwhile the family of the deceased men met with the minister of public health and engineering department, Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu on Tuesday who has assured the family about stern action into the case.
“I have personally spoken to the state home secretary and the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also been apprised of it. The investigation is proceeding in the right direction,” said the minister while speaking with the media on Tuesday.
