In a groundbreaking initiative for Mahakumbh 2025, underwater drones will be deployed for the first time to guarantee the safety of pilgrims. The Yogi government, committed to making the Kumbh Mela the largest spiritual event in Sanatan Dharma, has rolled out a comprehensive security plan for the massive gathering of over 450 million people.
To safeguard the sacred Sangam Snan (bathing at the confluence), the Yogi government has introduced cutting-edge underwater drones capable of diving up to 100 meters deep. These drones will offer round-the-clock surveillance beneath the waters, ensuring the safety of pilgrims during the event.
Equipped with advanced technology, the drones can operate efficiently even in low-light conditions, allowing for precise monitoring and tracking of activities beneath the surface. With their ability to operate at significant depths, the drones will provide real-time reports to the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC), enabling swift action in case of any suspicious underwater activity.
On Wednesday, Dr. Rajeev Narayan Mishra, Inspector General of Police (Eastern Zone, Prayagraj), launched a high-speed underwater drone. He explained that the drone’s features would play a crucial role in ensuring safety throughout the Mahakumbh, transmitting live data over unlimited distances to track underwater incidents and activities.
In addition to the drones, personnel from the PAC, SDRF, and NDRF will be deployed across the event. Over 700 boats, each equipped with flags and staffed by security personnel, will maintain constant vigilance on the waters. To further enhance safety, remote-controlled life buoys have been introduced, which can rapidly assist individuals in distress by reaching them quickly in case of an emergency.
With this multifaceted approach to security, the Yogi government is taking unprecedented steps to ensure the well-being of all pilgrims attending Mahakumbh 2025.
