In Balrampur district, Mohammad Shahid, an assistant teacher at a local government school, has been accused of inappropriate behaviour towards students. The allegations surfaced when six eighth-grade female students reported that Shahid engaged in misconduct during an examination session. According to their accounts, the teacher not only lifted them onto his lap but also marked their cheeks and backs with chalk in an objectionable manner.
The students immediately brought this matter to the attention of the school warden and headmaster Mohammad Ismail. However, their complaints were initially dismissed, and Shahid reportedly threatened them to suppress the issue, warning them against further disclosures.
The incident only came to public notice when the students confided in their family members during a visit to the school hostel. Incensed by the allegations, relatives stormed the school premises on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, demanding accountability and stringent action against Shahid.
