A 34-year-old Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, took his own life and left a 24-page letter and a 90-minute video claiming that he was being harassed by his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family.
In his video, Atul Subhash stated that the alleged harassment had driven him to take the extreme step of ending his life. Following the tragedy, Subhash’s father, Pawan Kumar, disclosed that a new case had been filed against him, seeking maintenance for his grandson.
On December 15, the city police arrested Nikita Singhania in Gurugram, Haryana. Meanwhile, her mother, Nisha Singhania, and brother, Anurag Singhania, were taken into custody in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Pawan Kumar expressed his gratitude to the police for the arrests, saying, “I thank the police for arresting the accused, but justice has not yet been served. We have no idea where our grandson is—whether he is alive or if something has happened to him. I want my grandson to be with us.” He also informed ANI, “A new case has been filed against me in the name of my grandson for maintenance.”
Kumar further appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and other prominent leaders to intervene in the matter.
He said, “For a grandfather, his grandson means more than his own son. The entire society and the people are supporting me.” Pawan Kumar also alleged that Nikita receives a monthly maintenance of Rs 40,000.
According to sources, Nikita had checked into a paying guest (PG) accommodation in Gurugram on December 8, just a day before her husband’s suicide. She reportedly left the PG that evening, leaving her belongings behind. Although she had paid rent starting from December 9 and registered under her name, Nikita did not stay at the PG after December 8 until her arrest. While she had completed her KYC (Know Your Customer) formalities, her verification process remained incomplete. The PG management attempted to contact her multiple times but received no response. The police continue to investigate the case, while Subhash’s family demands justice and custody of the grandson.
