On November 26, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a man named Amir for raping, kidnapping, and purposefully entangling a 13-year-old Lucknow girl in a “love affair.”

On November 18, the accused kidnapped the eighth-grade student. He brought her to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and lodged her in a hotel room. The accused is believed to have raped the girl further before dropping her back to Lucknow.

According to the complaint submitted by the victim’s family, the perpetrator concealed his true identity from the young girl and monitored her movements as she travelled to school. He then trapped the girl in a ‘love affair’ and forced her to be with him. On November 18, he requested that she accompany him, after which he sexually assaulted her in Varanasi. When she resisted, he subjected her to significant threats. The accused then transported the girl to Surat in Gujarat.

Following the complaint filed by the victim’s family, the police launched an investigation and traced the accused to Surat. On November 24, the accused devised a plan to return to Lucknow. However, on November 26, as he attempted to drop the girl off in Lucknow and flee the scene, he was apprehended by the police.

ADCP Manish Singh explained that the accused had worked with the victim’s father, helping him deliver cooking gas cylinders. “He used to assist with the deliveries, which is how he came into contact with the minor. After that, he started stalking her and coercing her to stay with him,” he said. “The accused has been arrested, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.”

Earlier this week, a similar case of “Love Jihad” was reported from the Moradabad region of Uttar Pradesh. A Muslim youth, identified as Shariq, had impersonated a man named Honey to deceive a 20-year-old woman from the Katghar police station area. He raped her under the pretext of offering her a job and then coerced her into converting to Islam. The accused has since been arrested and charged under the relevant sections of the law.

In October, a man named Aalim Ahmed from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, fraud, and forcibly converting a Hindu woman to Islam. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh. According to reports, the 20-year-old victim filed a police complaint in May 2023, alleging that the accused, identified as Mohammed Aalim Ahmed, had introduced himself as Anand Kumar. The woman claimed she met the accused in 2022 at her coaching classes. She further stated that Aalim coerced her into converting to Islam and forced her to undergo an abortion during her pregnancy. Aalim was arrested and charged with rape, criminal intimidation, and causing bodily harm. In the given case, the accused has been arrested and investigations are underway. Further details are awaited.
