The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a call to all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India, urging them to encourage their students to register and actively participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue as part of the National Youth Festival 2025. This unique initiative aims to engage young minds in shaping the future vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), giving them an opportunity to contribute directly to the country’s national discourse.

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment, invites students from across the country to voice their ideas, aspirations, and innovative solutions to the challenges faced by the nation. As part of this program, students will also have the chance to directly interact with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during a National Dialogue scheduled for January 11-12, 2025, in New Delhi.

The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue is a dynamic platform that aligns with India’s aspirations of becoming a developed nation. The initiative offers young people, especially students, a chance to actively contribute to the development agenda, focusing on various aspects such as technology, education, sustainability, innovation, and governance. With youth forming a significant portion of India’s population, this initiative aims to empower them to play an active role in shaping the country’s future.

As part of the ongoing National Youth Festival, this program seeks to bring together students, policymakers, and thought leaders to discuss critical issues and explore actionable ideas to move towards a Viksit Bharat. The event will also include discussions, workshops, and opportunities for networking, creating an environment where youth can showcase their potential as change-makers.

A key component of the initiative is the Viksit Bharat Challenge, which consists of a quiz and essay writing competition, designed to encourage students to engage with the country’s vision for development in an intellectual and creative manner. Participants will be expected to submit essays reflecting their vision for a Viksit Bharat, touching upon aspects such as sustainable development, digital transformation, economic empowerment, and social equity.

In addition to the essay writing, the quiz will test students’ knowledge about India’s history, current affairs, and the country’s path to becoming a developed nation. The winners of both segments will have the opportunity to present their ideas and visions directly to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, during the National Youth Dialogue in New Delhi.

How to Participate

The registration process for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue and the Viksit Bharat Challenge is straightforward. The UGC has provided a concept note and promotional creatives for institutions and students to encourage participation. Interested students and institutions can access the detailed registration process through the following link:

All Higher Education Institutions are requested to disseminate this information to their students, encouraging them to register for the event and submit their entries for the quiz and essay writing competition. Institutions should also actively promote the dialogue and foster a sense of involvement among students, motivating them to think critically and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

As part of the ongoing efforts to integrate academic institutions into the national development dialogue, HEIs are also urged to register on the MY Bharat Portal as knowledge institutions. This portal will serve as a central platform for gathering information and sharing resources related to the Viksit Bharat vision. By registering, institutions can align themselves with the broader national development agenda and become active participants in the mission to build a developed India.

The MY Bharat Portal will provide HEIs with access to a range of resources, including policy documents, updates on the Viksit Bharat Challenge, and other events related to youth empowerment and national development. It will also facilitate direct communication with government agencies, ensuring institutions remain informed about key developments and opportunities.

The UGC has called upon Vice-Chancellors, Heads of Institutions, and faculty members to actively promote this initiative among students. The aim is to ensure maximum participation and engagement from India’s student community in this national event. By doing so, the initiative hopes to tap into the untapped potential of the youth and provide them with a platform to present their ideas for a better future.

The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue is more than just an event; it is a call to action for the youth of India to rise as active participants in the nation-building process. By providing a platform for dialogue, discussion, and creative expression, this initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of achieving Viksit Bharat through collective effort and youth engagement. The National Youth Festival 2025, with its focus on innovation and leadership, will serve as a landmark event in empowering the youth to shape India’s future.

All HEIs and students are encouraged to seize this opportunity to not only showcase their talent but also contribute to the greater cause of national development, helping pave the way for a Viksit Bharat in the years to come.
