Batogey to Katogey: Yogi Adityanath’s call to Hindus to unite or face extinction

Yogi Adityanath's recent call for unity among the people of Bharat comes at a crucial time, urging a collective awakening amidst historical divisions. His message resonates particularly with Hindus, urging them to unite and preserve their identity in the face of long-standing challenges

Yogi Adityanath’s call to people, exhorting them to be united, has come at an opportune time. The innuendo was clearly for the section of people who have faced vandalism and pogroms at the hands of another section through the tumultuous course of Bharat’s history. Nothing describes the gravity of the issue better than the manner in which Yogi called upon his audience during election rallies earlier in UP and later in Maharashtra.

Bharat is a very unfortunate country

Divinely ordained by the Creator to be the beacon of light for humanity on this earth for its sustenance, development and salvation, Bharat has been the material benefactor and spiritual torchbearer of the global populace for aeons. This fact has been chronicled by our revered sages and savants. But over the last two centuries, it has seen decline and downfall, which plunged its countrymen into rank, inglorious and miserable existence. It witnessed a period of subjugation and destitution. This dark chapter in Bharat’s otherwise long illustrious history as the material and spiritual leader of the world (Vishwaguru) of the world raises many questions, some of which, surprisingly, have not been satisfactorily answered till date. However, many answers were clear and evident, although they were not eloquently expressed. Yogi Adityanath has done exactly that now. And it was time ripe for it.

The misfortune of Bharat is short-lived, like the extent of the proverbial dark cloud, which has a silver lining. Bharat is on its way to regaining its glorious stature on the world stage in line with its intrinsic potential, sublime culture and divine decree.

Divisions based on caste, sect and religion have been the bane of Bharat for the entire period of its short, inglorious history. These divisions are truly founded on the false and fictitious concepts of caste and religion. Caste has been mistaken for the primordial concept of Varna, and religion has been equally mistaken for narrow ideological sects.

Batogey to Katogey is an apt slogan to unite the Hindu society riven by castes, sub castes and sects. And this is beginning to show its effects as evidenced by the popular responses in the 13 constituencies for the state bye-elections of UP on November 13 and 288 constituencies for the assembly elections in Maharashtra on November 20. For Hindus who have been at the receiving end of religious bigotry with violent undertones and tyranny of rulers for such a long time, it is the hour of self-awakening, and the slogan serves as the final call for protecting and preserving the identity of Hindus.

Nations are built on ideologies, and pure, unsullied Vedic ideology has been the foundation of Bharatiya culture for thousands of years. This ideology gave our nation the rock-solid footing to serve as the world’s political, economic, cultural and technological leader. Allowing this ideology to get diluted and distorted led to the downfall of this nation. This ideology is being corrected—thanks to the enormous work done by institutions like Arya Samaj and RSS. And we are witnessing the early phase of the resurrection of Bharat’s glorious days. The message here is that ideologies build nations, and ideologies unite countrymen. Dilution and distortion of ideologies led to the emergence of multiple castes, sub-castes and sects with sharp ideological differences that eroded the unity of Hindu society. Rigved, in its Sangathan Sukta, pronounces that persons in the society must think alike, speak alike, walk in unison and follow in the footsteps of their illustrious forefathers whose deeds were etched in golden glory. Indeed, our forefathers – the sages (Rishis and Maharishis) like Vishwamitra, Vashisht, Parashar, Vyas, Kanad, Gautam and cultural and civilisational icons like Shri Ram and Shri Krishna are our models for emulation. They all preached and propagated the message of universal Sanatan dharma, which contains the tenets of divine truth expounded in Vedas. And strands of this truth talk of purity of ideology, which sustains unity among humans in society. It is this very unity which will lend strength to Hindu society, enabling it not only to decimate its enemies but also to bring them under its fold for the universal good.

The slogan Batogey to Katogey can be interpreted in more ways than one. It applies to all sections of society, which are divided on the basis of caste, sect, and ideology. So, it can act as a cementing force for enhancing cohesion and unity in the larger Indian society and strengthening the Hindu Sanatan Rashtra. In strengthening of this society lies the larger welfare and sustainable progress of all humankind.
