The Uttar Pradesh government is set to provide financial aid to ancient and rundown Sanskrit degree colleges under its “Project Alankar” scheme. The scheme is specifically designed to renovate and uplift old educational institutions that have deteriorated over time. In a move aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of Sanskrit-based institutions, the state’s Department of Secondary Education proposed this plan, which has now received approval from higher authorities. Officials are optimistic that a government order regarding financial assistance will be released soon.

In Uttar Pradesh, there are 1,267 Sanskrit inter-colleges and 403 Sanskrit degree colleges. Out of these, 306 degree colleges have been included in the “Added” list under the state’s aided institutions category. Many of these inter-colleges have one or more buildings that have become dilapidated and require urgent repairs. Recognizing the pressing need to address the structural conditions of these institutions, the government initiated Project Alankar.

The need for renovation was recognized due to the severely poor condition of many of these ancient institutions. Prior to this project, the state government had already launched Project Alankar to revitalize old and crumbling government buildings. The project is now being extended to include Sanskrit inter-colleges and degree colleges. The decision was made after officials in the education department examined the conditions of these colleges and realized that half of the inter-colleges might become unsafe if not included in the renovation plans.

The agreement for inclusion in Project Alankar was reached after considering the significant demand from various schools and colleges. The education department worked closely with the state government and submitted a proposal to include these Sanskrit inter-colleges and degree colleges. Following thorough evaluation by senior officials, the proposal received approval from the government, making it part of the wider initiative to upgrade educational infrastructure in the state.

The plan envisions complete renovation of the dilapidated portions of these institutions, focusing on structural safety and improved learning environments. Officials believe that the inclusion of these schools and colleges under the government’s aided category will expedite the renovation work. They also stress that timely government orders will ensure efficient financial flow for the project.

The state government will be providing financial support for the execution of this project. Initially, the Department of Secondary Education will oversee the progress, but further financial assistance and logistical support from higher authorities are expected to be allocated. The funds will be directed toward upgrading the infrastructure of these Sanskrit colleges, ensuring that they regain their old grandeur while being equipped with modern amenities.

The government has emphasized that these funds are to be used strictly for repairs and renovations to ensure the safety and usability of the buildings. Moreover, the project aims to not only preserve the historical and cultural value of these institutions but also to improve their overall appeal to students and teachers alike.

Project Alankar represents a critical step towards reviving Sanskrit education in Uttar Pradesh. By providing much-needed renovations to the state’s Sanskrit inter-colleges and degree colleges, the government hopes to create better learning environments and encourage more students to pursue Sanskrit studies. Many of these institutions are symbolic of the rich cultural heritage of India, and their renovation would ensure that future generations continue to benefit from this legacy.

Moreover, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the state. By addressing the infrastructural issues faced by many institutions, the project aims to remove barriers to quality education. Additionally, the financial backing provided by the state will ensure that these institutions can continue to function safely, without the looming threat of deteriorating structures.

The successful implementation of Project Alankar could act as a model for other states with similarly ancient educational institutions. The Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on infrastructure development in the education sector is a positive step towards revitalizing traditional forms of knowledge while ensuring that they adapt to modern educational standards.
