The brutal murder of 50-year-old Anita Choudhary, a beautician from Jodhpur, has shocked the nation as new and chilling details have emerged about the premeditated nature of the crime. Anita’s dismembered body was discovered buried in the backyard of the prime suspect, Ghulamuddin Farooqui, also known as Gul Mohammad. Authorities now believe the murder was not a spur-of-the-moment act but a carefully orchestrated plan, raising serious questions about the motives and other possible accomplices involved.

A pre-meditated crime

According to recent findings, Ghulamuddin had prepared for the crime days in advance. Three days prior to Anita’s disappearance, a pit was dug using a JCB machine outside his residence, in preparation for concealing her body. This shocking detail has cast doubt on the initial police theory, which suggested that Anita was killed following a failed robbery attempt. In a disturbing twist, the role of Ghulamuddin’s wife, Abida Parveen, has come to light, leading to her arrest by police on charges of being complicit in the murder.

Community reeling from the horror

Anita Choudhary was reported missing on October 27 after she failed to return home from her workplace, Sunshine Beauty Parlour in Sardarpura. Her husband, Manmohan Choudhary, had filed a missing person’s report, noting her last known movements. Anita had been called by her friend and fellow beautician, Sunita Sen, who ran a beauty parlour nearby. Sunita reportedly asked Anita to come over, leading to a series of events that ended in Anita’s brutal murder.

The grim discovery

After days of desperate searching, the authorities received a breakthrough on October 30 when Abida Parveen disclosed the location of Anita’s remains. Police arrived at the scene, uncovering a shallow grave behind Ghulamuddin’s house where Anita’s dismembered body lay buried in plastic bags. Her body had been mutilated, with each part wrapped separately, a gruesome attempt to obscure the crime. The chilling details revealed a calculated effort to not only kill but also to conceal the evidence in the most horrific manner.

Notably, authorities had to dig up a 12-foot pit in the yard, where they found Anita’s dismembered body parts, wrapped and buried separately to conceal the crime. The head was severed, and so were the limbs and hands; the body was recovered in six separate pieces and stuffed in different bags. Reports also mentioned that the parts were grounded before being dumped.

Inconsistencies and new revelations

As the investigation unfolded, police found inconsistencies in the timeline and motive. While initial theories suggested a robbery gone wrong, recent reports indicate that the suspects may have had deeper motives, potentially involving blackmail or other criminal intentions. In a viral audio clip circulating online, Anita’s friend Sunita is heard accusing claimed BJP leader Taiyab Ansari of being involved in Anita’s abduction. The audio suggests that Anita’s murder might have been tied to compromising photographs or information, though authorities have not officially confirmed this lead.

The police’s current working theory, however, points to financial desperation as a motive. Ghulamuddin reportedly lost over Rs 12 lakh in gambling, leading him into severe debt. His wife, Abida, has claimed that the couple planned to rob Anita as a way to settle these debts, luring her to their residence with a drug-laced drink before killing her.

Questions and growing suspicion

Anita’s son, Rahul, has publicly questioned the police’s theory, asking why a pit was dug three days prior if the murder was merely an impulsive act during a failed robbery. Additionally, inconsistencies have surfaced regarding Anita’s last call: records show that she contacted her sister, Meenakshi, at around 4:16 PM on the day of her disappearance, stating that she was with Sunita. However, Sunita has denied this claim, adding to the growing list of unanswered questions surrounding the case.

Evidence and arrests

Police have arrested Abida and continue to search for Ghulamuddin, who remains at large. During the search of their home, authorities recovered several personal belongings of Anita, including her clothes, purse, and jewellery. Abida was found to be in possession of Anita’s ring, further implicating her in the crime. Authorities have seized the JCB used to dig the pit, as well as detained its driver for questioning.

Political links and unanswered questions

The involvement of BJP leader Taiyab Ansari, as alleged in the audio recording, has raised suspicions of political connections. In the audio, Sunita makes cryptic references to “three doctors” and an influential group, echoing themes of cover-ups and hidden motives similar to the notorious Bhawari Devi murder case. The police have yet to verify the authenticity of this audio or to clarify its significance in the investigation.

Call for justice

As the community reels from the brutality of the crime, Anita’s family and local residents are calling for a swift and transparent investigation. The case has drawn attention to rising concerns over crime and violence in the region, with demands for accountability and justice.

Disturbing portrait of violence

DCP West Rajrishi Raj Verma has confirmed that Ghulamuddin’s debts and gambling addiction may have driven him to target Anita, a longtime acquaintance. The two had known each other for over 25 years, and Ghulamuddin’s dry cleaning shop was situated directly across from Anita’s beauty parlour in Sardarpura. It is claimed that the couple enticed Anita to their home under the pretence of friendship before drugging, killing, and dismembering her. The calculated steps taken to conceal the crime, including the sprinkling of perfume to mask the smell, paint a disturbing portrait of premeditated violence.

The police investigation remains ongoing, with the search intensifying for Ghulamuddin, whose arrest could provide crucial answers in this horrifying case. For now, Jodhpur mourns the loss of Anita Choudhary, a mother, wife, and respected community member whose life was brutally taken in an act of chilling violence.
