RANCHI: Assam’s Chief Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) co-incharge for Jharkhand assembly polls, Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again reiterated its party’s stand on infiltrators, emphasizing that the latter will be kicked out of the state given BJP made a comeback in the upcoming polls.

Addressing a public rally in steel city Jamshedpur on Thursday, October 24, Sarma asserted that “ for the sake of appeasement politics, the government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has worked only for the interest of infiltrators and encroachers, we will throw out all the infiltrators from the state when BJP will form a government”.

He further alleged that “infiltrators are called in the state for the appeasement of votes, they have made inroads across the state and the incumbent Soren government has failed to act against them but I promise you when the BJP will form a government here, we will kick out the infiltrators in accordance with the law”.

Pointing out at change in demography in Jamshedpur, Sarma remarked that “look what is happening in the Jamshedpur West, the demography of Jamshedpur is slowly changing. What is the strength of the Congress and the JMM, they don’t need your votes but only votes of a particular community, that’s why they do not do your work”?

“The way we shook Babar from Ayodhya and built a Ram Temple there, the time has arrived to kick out the Babars settled across in separate corners of the country,” added the Assam’s CM.

तुष्टिकरण की राजनीति के लिए JMM की सरकार ने केवल घुसपैठियों और अतिक्रमणकारियों के हित में काम किया है।

He further raised concerns over paper leaks of competitive exams, corruption and exploitation of natural resources (minerals) in the state.

“I have visited many states and observe the functioning of the governments there, but the situation in Jharkhand is worrisome. The current government has failed to provide essential services to the people and instead of serving the masses, the current administration is being operated by the mafias, brokers and the infiltrators,” he added.

He emphasized that if the BJP forms a government in the state, it will represent the poorer, tribals and Hindus.

Infiltration, a key issue in assembly polls

It is noteworthy that the issue of illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals in the state is being raised vehemently during the ongoing election campaign by the opposition parties, especially by the BJP many of whose senior leaders have been long accusing the incumbent state government for not only failing to contain the issue of infiltration but also protecting the infiltrators as part of their vote bank appeasement policy.

Though the allegations of the opposition have been categorically denied by the JMM leaders who in turn have alleged the BJP leaders for promoting divisive politics for sake of polarisation of votes.

Notably, the state government led by the JMM and the incumbent union government are already in midst of a legal battle over the issue, where the former had recently approached the Supreme Court, opposing formation of a joint fact finding committee comprising of members of both union and the state government officials to deal with the issue of infiltration.

This comes after the high court while hearing on a petition instructed both the state and the union government to constitute a fact finding committee over the alleged infiltration of foreign nationals in the state in September this year.

It is worth mentioning here, that while the union government in its submission before the high court had underscored that the tribal population of the Santhal division of the state has underwent a massive change and reduced by 16 per cent after independence, the state government on the other hand had denied any illegal infiltration in the state.

The tribal dominated state is all set to hold assembly polls for 81 seats in two phases i.e. on November 13 and 20, where the BJP led NDA is up against the JMM-Congress led alliance.
