It also said that most of the journalists that the IDF has exposed as operatives in Hamas military wing spearheaded the propaganda for Hamas at Al Jazeera especially in northern Gaza.

The six journalists have been identified as Anas Jamal Mahmoud Al-Sharif, Alaa Abdul Aziz Muhammad Salama, Hossam Basel Abdul Karim Shabat, Ashraf Sami Ahsour Saraj, Ismail Farid Muhammad Abu Amr, and Talal Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Aruki.

The IDF noted that Ismail Abu Air was injured in an Israeli operation in Gaza on February this year. Al Jazeera had at that time denied the allegations.

In May this year, Israel had ordered shutting down of operations of Al Jazeera channel in Israel over its pro-Hamas coverage and propaganda. Following that, in September, the Israeli government had also closed the Al Jazeera bureau in Ramallah in West Bank.

Following this Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a tweet, “Al Jazeera’s journalists have harmed Israeli security and incited against IDF soldiers. The time has come to eject Hamas’s mouthpiece from our country. The government headed by me unanimously decided: the incitement channel Al Jazeera will be closed in Israel.”

In all four orders had been issued to implement the ban. The orders said that megaphones for Hamas would not have freedom of expression in Israel. The first order directed the shutting down of the Al Jazeera offices in West and East Jerusalem. Another order instructed the television providers to stop broadcasting the channel. In the third order the government instructed that the channel’s broadcast equipment including cell phones, except those for personal use be confiscated.

The fourth order instructed television, cell phone and Internet providers to block access to Al Jazeera’s English and Arabic language networks.
