Shopian Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Choudhary confirmed the recovery of the bullet-ridden body but noted that further details about the incident are still pending. Sources within the Jammu & Kashmir Police have identified the deceased and indicated that this attack marks a disturbing trend, as it is the first suspected terrorist strike against a migrant worker following the recent Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
Prior to this incident, the last known attack targeting a migrant worker occurred on April 17 in Bijbehara town, Anantnag district. The ongoing violence against migrants in the region has raised significant concerns about their safety and security.
