Guwahati: In a groundbreaking achievement, a team from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) has successfully scaled an unclimbed peak, standing at 6,383 metres (20,942 ft), in the Gorichen range of the Arunachal Pradesh Himalayas. This previously unnamed peak, located in the Tawang-West Kameng region, was one of the most technically challenging summits in the area. To honour the spiritual legacy of His Holiness the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, the team has named the peak “Tsangyang Gyatso Peak.”

The NIMAS team faced daunting obstacles on their way to the summit, including navigating sheer ice walls, crossing treacherous crevasses, and tackling a 2-kilometer-long glacier.
