Guwahati: On Monday, September 23, a young Muslim woman in Assam did ‘Ghar Wapsi’ as she underwent a spiritual conversion as she gave up Islam and converted to Hindu by adopting the Sanatan Dharma. The event was conducted at Nagaon’s hallowed Sri Sri Jakhalabandha Satra, with spiritual direction from Satradhikar Jugal Chandra Dev Goswami. The Ghar Wapsi event was carried out following customary Hindu rituals, which included devotion (archana) and prayers conducted under Satradhikar’s guidance. The young woman officially converted to Hinduism after learning about Mahapurush Sri Sri Damodar Dev Guru’s teachings.

I have been doing this nonstop. I have helped almost 1100 girls and boys convert to Hinduism at their will, said Satradhikar.

The woman has been recognised as Regina Begum, a Master Degree student of engineering. Her native place is Rangia, and she had declared her intention to become a Hindu and do ghar wapsi. Satradhikar Goswami claims that she contacted him in an attempt to get advice on how to convert.

“She wanted to become a Hindu. I received a call asking whether I could visit Guwahati. I granted the request. After that, I along with a friend from  Vishwa Hindu Parishad visited Rangia to meet the girl”, Goswami said. He further explained, “Right now as you can see, there is a robust ecosystem among Muslims. They followed us after learning that we would be arriving to meet the girl. We were able to get away by getting an early alarm. I got a call from the girl asking why I left. I said that we had some difficulties on the way. She informed me that she had experienced a similar circumstance and made the decision to contact me at my house instead. I advised her to file an affidavit with the court and advised her that there were not many formalities to complete in terms of the law. Satradhikar Jugal Chandra Dev Goswami further said that , “I would only begin the process of converting to Hinduism after filing the affidavit by her.”

Confirming the update Satradhikar Goswami  clarified that the conversion procedure was followed in accordance with Sanatan Dharma’s tenets. Following the woman’s official request for conversion and do ghar wapsi, an official. certificate validating her transition was granted by the Satra.
