Similar incidents in the past
It is worth mentioning here, that this is not the first time that a Hindu student has been punished for applying Tilak or wearing Hindu symbols and incidents of similar nature have been keep coming to the light on regular intervals.
Earlier in a similar case reported by Organiser in April last year, students of the Nirmal Jyoti Convent School, Bina had alleged that they were forced to follow Christian religious beliefs at the school. They further had claimed that wearing Raksha Sutra or applying Tilak in school could lead to their suspension.
According to the students, the teacher at the school namely Domnika Mam and Sister Grace were against wearing such symbols and the students were asked to remove their Tilak before entering the school premises. The students had further alleged that they were supposed to recite a prayer to God Jesus before launch.
In another case reported by Organiser, the students of Mount Carmel High School of Kurnool had also alleged the school administration for harassing them over applying Tilak/Bindi on their foreheads. They also had alleged the school management for not allowing girls to wear bangles.
It was then reported that the school management had reportedly banned applying tilak, bindi and wearing bangles and those spotted wearing these were fined heavily.
The school management was also accused of forcing Christian religious beliefs on non-Christian children by making them mandatorily undergo Bible classes and Christian religious prayer during morning, evening and launch hours.
