Raipur: In a major success for the security forces grappling with the outlawed CPI Maoist in Chhattisgarh, three female cadres of the Maoist group have been neutralised in an encounter with a joint team of security forces in Maoist’s stronghold of Abujhmaad.

According to the details received, the operation was lunched following the police received credible inputs of Maoist movement near the inter-district border of Kanker and Narayanpur.

A joint team comprising of personnel from Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) was then dispatched to the location on Thursday morning, August 29 who established contact with the outlaws around 8 am, leading to fierce exchange of fire between the Maoists and the forces.

Upon searching the area after the gunfight, body of thee female Maoists in uniform was recovered from the spot. The security team have further seized huge cache of arms and ammunition from the site of the gunfight.

The development has been confirmed by Prabhat Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Narayanpur, who informed that the Maoists opened fire on the search team on Thursday morning, leading to neutralisation of three female Maoist cadres in the retaliatory fire.

With the latest inclusion, the overall tally of Maoists killed in the last 8 months has surpassed the 180 mark indicating amplified operations by the security forces in the state marred by Maoist insurgency since long.

Notably addressing a press conference, the Union Home Minister during his recently concluded visit to the state had disclosed that the battle against the outlawed Maoist group has reached its final stages and the country will be free from the menace of Maoist insurgency in the next one and a half years’ time.

“I believe that our battle has reached the final stage and we will be able to free the country from Maoist’s menace by March 2026,” said the Home Minister who also emphasised that the time has come to deal a decisive blow to the Maoist insurgency with a robust strategy.

It is worth mentioning here that an overall dip of 53% has been registered in the incidents linked to Maoist violence in the last 10 years, Similar reduction has also been noted in the causalities of civilians and security forces which has registered an overall reduction of 70% in compare to the causalities occurred between 2004 to 2014.
