The gang, led by a woman named Najma Kausar, along with her accomplices Mohammad Ashiq and Khalil, has been luring unsuspecting men into their trap, extorting money, and leaving them financially and emotionally devastated. This operation, which has reportedly targeted multiple victims, is a cautionary tale for men in the city to be wary of such deceptive schemes.
The modus operandi of the gang was deceptively simple yet effective. Najma Kausar, who lived in the Sampigehalli area, initiated the trap by giving a missed call to random mobile numbers. When the recipient of the missed call dialed back, Najma would engage them in polite conversation, often pretending to have dialed the wrong number. She would ask for their name and city, carefully building a rapport if she discovered they were from Bangalore.
As the conversation progressed, Najma would text and call the individual, gradually forming what seemed to be a friendly relationship. Within a few days, she would ask for a small amount of money, claiming it was a temporary loan, which she would promptly return. This initial trust-building was crucial for setting the stage for the next phase of her scam.
Once trust was established, Najma would escalate the relationship, often pretending to develop romantic feelings for the victim. She would send sexually suggestive messages and eventually invite the victim to her house, claiming she was alone and eager for a physical relationship.
Unaware of the impending trap, the victim would arrive at her house, expecting a private encounter. However, once inside and behind closed doors, the situation would take a sinister turn. Najma’s accomplices, Mohammad Ashiq and Khalil, would burst into the room, accusing the victim of immoral behavior. They would then threaten the victim with exposure and legal consequences, including the threat of filing a rape case if the victim did not comply with their demands for money.
Fearing social stigma and legal trouble, the victims often caved in to the demands, paying large sums of money to avoid public humiliation and potential imprisonment. The gang targeted men across Bangalore, leveraging their fear and shame to extract as much money as possible.
The gang’s operations came to light after they trapped a courier boy last week. The victim, after being extorted of rs 10 thousands filed a complaint with the Sampigehalli police. Based on his account, the police swiftly acted and managed to apprehend Najma Kausar and her accomplices.
The Sampigehalli police, led by a determined team, conducted a detailed investigation into the gang’s activities. They discovered that the gang had been operating for several months, targeting multiple men across the city.
