Reacting to the general budget presented by the Central Government in Parliament, All India General Secretary of the country’s largest farmers’ organisation Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Mohini Mohan Mishra said that the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh welcomes this budget which is agriculture and farmer friendly and promotes the interests of the related sectors.

The government has given priority to higher productivity of grains and natural farming in this budget. The government has made provision in the budget for research and research for the changes taking place in the agriculture sector in view of climate change. Along with this, according to the climate, it has been said to give 32 new high-yielding varieties of horticultural crops to the farmers for the agriculture sector and 109 new high-yielding varieties of horticultural crops to the farmers, which is a good step.

Mishra warned that if GM crops are allowed in the name of higher production, then the Kisan Sangh will oppose it. Also, Mishra talked about giving more budget to ICAR instead of private sector for research and investigation work.

To promote natural farming, the government has talked about encouraging one crore farmers by helping them in certification and branding. For which he has made provision of opening ten thousand bio input resource centers in the budget. Which is commendable and is a meaningful step of the government towards poison-free farming.

Mishra further said that provisions have been included in the budget to create clusters for vegetable producing farmers and to make them self-reliant in pulses and oilseeds and to make strategies under a special campaign in its production, storage and marketing. This will benefit small and marginal farmers. Making Jan Samarth based Kisan Credit Card in five states, survey of Kharif crops in 400 districts of the country through digital public infrastructure is a welcome step.

In the budget, the government has announced the development of rural area and Janjati Unnayan Gram Yojana along with the agriculture sector. Due to which a large number of tribal families living in remote areas will get benefit.
