National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday, June 21 chargesheeted as many as four cadres of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) in connection with a case linked to abduction and killing of a secret police personnel (Gopniya Sainik) in December last year.
In the chargesheet filed before a special NIA court in Chhattisgarh, the agency has named Guddu Kursam alias Vishnu Kursam, Hunga Mandvi alias Sunil Mandvi, Dula Kursam along with a juvenile, all residents of Bijapur district for the abduction and murder case.
All the accused chargsheeted by the investigative agency have been charged under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
According to the NIA’s investigation, all the three aforementioned accused were active cadres of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) where Dula and Guddu Kursam were also part of the “Moolvasi Bachao Manch”, a frontal organisation of the Gangloor Area Committee of the proscribed Maoist group in Bijapur district.
NIA’s investigation has further revealed that Hunga Mandvi alias Sunil Mandvi was active as Vice President of Militia Gram Raksha Dal and was also a member of the Chetna Natya Mandali, a cultural wing of the outlaws.
During the investigation it has been further disclosed that the abovementioned cadres of the banned outfit along with the help of other members conspired, kidnapped and murdered the victim Gopniya Sainik, Kishan Kurasam.
The fateful incident had taken place in the month of December last year, when Kishan Kurasam was abducted and attacked by sharp edged weapons by the outlaws. Following the murder, the ultras threw his body on Goma-Mankeli road near Padiyapara area.
Notably, the agency had taken over the case in February this year and further investigations into the case are continuing.
NIA conducts raids at multiple locations in Jharkhand
Meanwhile in another significant development, NIA has carried out searches on multiple locations linked with absconders and suspects in a case related to the CPI (Maoist) on Wednesday and Thursday, informed the agency in a statement.
As many as 19 different locations spread across Giridih and Bokaro districts of Jharkhand have been raided as part of the NIA’s investigation in a case linked to arrest of a regional committee member of the banned outfit.
During the crackdown the agency has carried out search operations on premises linked to absconding commanders, armed cadres, Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and members of the frontal organisations of the proscribed Maoist outfit such as AMM and Mazdoor Sangathan Samiti (MSS), which had been declared an unlawful association under section 16 of Criminal Law Amendment (CLA) Act by the Government of Jharkhand in December 2017.
According to the NIA, the sleuths of the agency during the raids have seized various incriminating documents, SIM cards, phones and other materials from the said premises.

NIA took over the case in June last year after it was initially registered by the local police who began a probe into the matter following the arrest of Krishna Hansda, a regional committee member of the CPI (Maoist) from Lucio forest area of Dumri police station limits of Giridih district in Jharkhand.
The investigation by the premier agency has so far revealed that “a huge amount of levy was extorted by Maoist from the road construction works in the interior areas of Giridih district”. Further the investigation has also exposed the nefarious nexus between members of frontal organisations, OWGs and senior leaders of the banned CPI (Maoist) in generating illegal funds.
It is worth mentioning here, that of late the investigative agency has intensified its investigations linked to scores of cases registered by the it against Maoist outfits such as PLFI and CPI (Maoist).
