On June 17, a major controversy erupted in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, after Islamists in the Daulatabad region allegedly slaughtered cows instead of goats to mark the occasion of Bakrid. This act sparked outrage among local Hindus and Hindu activists, leading to violent clashes.

According to an exclusive report by Sudarshan News, the Islamists attacked the protesting Hindus, destroying their vehicles. The police were promptly called to the scene to pacify the situation. Several injured Hindus were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The incident came to light when Hindu activists, acting on a tip-off, informed the police about the illegal cow slaughter. The police raided the premises and confirmed the allegations. This led to protests by the Hindus, who raised slogans against the act. In response, the Islamists allegedly attacked the Hindu activists, accusing them of tipping off the police.

A Hindu woman filed a police complaint stating that she was molested, and her husband was threatened by the Islamists for reporting the cow slaughter. The police have booked 19 individuals in connection with the incident: Ahmed Sayyed, Lala Sheikh, Naser Sheikh, Imran Pathan, Ismail Pathan, Arbaz Patel, Baba Sheikh Andyawala, Baba Addu Wakharwala, Ajju Tikkiyapavwala, Rahim Sheikh, Sayyed Matin, Sayyed Baba, Rahim Sheikh, Shehzad Sayyed, Arbaz Qureshi, Junaid Sheikh, Sayyed Sheru, Sayyed Harun, and Munni Baji.

These individuals have been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including dacoity (Section 395), sexual harassment (Section 354A), house-trespass (Section 452), voluntarily causing hurt (Section 323), intentional insult (Section 504), criminal intimidation (Section 506), unlawful assembly (Section 143), rioting (Section 147), and other related offenses (Section 149).

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the accused broke into her home searching for her husband, who was not present at the time. They allegedly abused, molested her, and threatened both her and her husband. The accused also reportedly looted Rs 14,000 from her. “Arbaz Qureshi and Junaid Sheikh molested me and threatened to kill us. They abused me, claiming my husband had informed the police about the cow slaughter,” the woman stated.

BJP leader Sanjay Kenekar condemned the incident. Speaking to Sudarshan News, he said, “Muslim goons attacked Hindu women and activists for reporting the cow slaughter. I commend the police for their swift action in filing complaints and booking the accused, thus avoiding a communal incident.”

Additionally, a counter-complaint was filed by the Islamists against Hindus, identified as Aditya Bodkhe, Akshay Bodkhe, Tushar Mhaske, and Mayur Mhaske. A Muslim woman alleged that these individuals forcibly entered her home, abused her, and disturbed the household while searching for the remains of the slaughtered cows. This incident allegedly occurred after her husband was detained by the police.

The situation remains tense as both communities await further legal proceedings.
