Bhubaneswar: “Listen to the complaints of people coming to the police station properly. Police officers and employees should treat them well”. Advised Mohan Charan Majhi, new CM of Odisha to the senior police officers of the state.

CM Majhi emphasized the importance of providing quality services to the public, highlighting that proper handling of complaints and respectful treatment of individuals are crucial for maintaining public trust in the police force. “Listen to the complaints of people coming to the police station properly. Police officers and employees should treat them well,” advised the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, which marked one of the first official interactions between the new Chief Minister and the state’s top police leadership, Majhi outlined his vision for a more responsive and community-focused police force. He underscored that the effective resolution of grievances is key to fostering a safer and more harmonious society.

On the of June 15, the Director General of Police of the state Arun Kumar Sarangi along with some police officers of the Police Headquarters paid a courtesy visit to new Chief Minister Mohan Majhi at the temporary CMO located in the State Guest House. During this, Chief Minister Majhi asked the senior police officers to provide quality services to the public.

The courtesy visit also provided an opportunity for the police leadership to brief the Chief Minister on current law and order situations, ongoing initiatives, and future plans to enhance public safety and security in Odisha.

Chief Minister Majhi’s call for improved public service comes amid broader efforts to reform and modernize the police force, ensuring that it remains capable of addressing contemporary challenges while maintaining a strong connection with the community it serves.

After the meeting, while talking to journalists, the Director General of Police said that many issues were discussed with the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister has been apprised of the situation of police and law and order in the state. During this, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on providing quality services to the public.

The Director General of Police said that the Chief Minister has advised the police officers to listen to the complaints of the people coming to the police station and behave well with them. The Chief Minister was also informed about the three new laws that will be implemented from the coming July.
