The recent controversy surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) results sparked widespread discussion in India and drew in notable figures like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. As per the backdrop, the controversy erupted when numerous NEET candidates alleged significant discrepancies between their original OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets and the final results declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA). These candidates took to social media platforms to highlight instances where their manually calculated scores from the OMR sheets did not align with the scores officially published by the NTA.
One notable case in this involved Ayushi Patel, a NEET 2024 aspirant from Lucknow, whose experience went viral after she posted her video on the social media platform X. In her video, Patel claimed that her NEET 2024 result was not generated due to the NTA allegedly informing her that her OMR sheet was torn, because of which computation of her result was not possible. Seeking clarification on this, she requested to review her OMR sheet, only to be provided with a torn sheet by the NTA. According to Patel, her calculations as per the NEET 2024 answer keys make her score a total of 715, which is significantly different from the outcome reported by the NTA.
This incident and others like it have ignited a wave of protests and demands for transparency and fairness in the NEET examination process throughout India. It has also become a focal point for political figures like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who have leveraged the situation to advocate for students rights and examine how government bodies manage educational exams.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other opposition leaders focused on this issue, seeing it as part of larger problems in the current government. This incident has given the opposition, especially the Congress party, a chance to criticise the government in power. They are focusing on these problems to gain support from young people and their families, who are directly affected by educational policies and results.
Social media, especially Twitter, has been busy with discussions about this issue. Many students, parents, and teachers have expressed their complaints and asked the NTA for explanations. The outcry on social media has made the issue more noticeable, attracting more attention from the public and media. For instance, tweets from affected candidates and their families highlight the problems and call for the NTA to resolve them quickly and transparently.
In response, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has conducted a comprehensive investigation into the claims that are being raised and has provided a detailed response. According to the NTA, they thoroughly examined the accusations of tampering or errors in result compilation and found no evidence to support these claims. They specifically clarified about Ayushi Patel in their tweet that no torn Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheet was sent out from an official NTA identifier. NTA also ensured that the integrity of the OMR answer sheets remained intact throughout the process.
Furthermore, it reassured that the results announced are accurate and reliable. Any perceived discrepancies were attributed to misunderstandings or attempts to discredit the examination process. The NTA’s investigation affirmed the credibility of their procedures and the validity of the results, and dismissed related concerns that were raised.
