Amidst a profound personal journey, two young women, both Muslims, bravely departed from the Islamic faith, finding solace and spiritual fulfilment in the embrace of Sanatan Hindu Dharma. Tanu Banu Khatun did Ghar Wapsi for self-discovery, adopting the name Anu, while Anisha Khatun adopted the name Anwesha, symbolising the new chapter in their lives.
Their transition didn’t come without challenges. The Hindu organisation ‘Hindu Samhati’ played a pivotal role in arranging their ‘Ghar Wapsi’, a symbolic return to the Hindu fold, warmly welcoming them into the community. This gesture not only celebrated their newfound faith but also exemplified the essence of religious acceptance and freedom.

Their decision to renounce Islam and embrace Sanatan Dharma by doing Ghar Wapsi stemmed from their longing for freedom and respect for women within this spiritual path. They believed that aligning themselves with the principles of Sanatan Dharma would bring transformative change to their lives.
However, their families opposed their decision of Ghar Wapsi vehemently, creating a rift in their relationships. Undeterred by familial opposition, the two women chose to marry Hindu men, further solidifying their commitment to their newfound faith.

In the face of potential backlash, they have chosen to conceal their identities from the media, seeking protection from the threats and abuses that often accompany Ghar Wapsis. Their decision to remain anonymous underscores the challenges and risks they face, yet it also speaks volumes about their unwavering determination to live authentically and true to their beliefs.
In a heartening continuation of similar efforts, yet another case of Ghar Wapsi came to light from Bengal. Here, Lutfernessa Khatoon, who hails from South 24 Parganas, Diamond Harbour Subdivision adopted Sanatan Dharma.
Lutfernessa approached a Hindu activist with a profound desire to embrace Hindu dharma and do Ghar Wapsi. Her heart yearned to absorb the teachings and traditions of this ancient faith.
Her aspirations extend beyond spiritual discovery; she dreams of building a life with her childhood love. However, their path was strewn with obstacles, as both their families vehemently opposed their relationship.
In their time of need, they seek not only shelter and protection but also a means of livelihood. The activist provided support and guidance, followed by the Ghar Wapsi.

During interactions with Lutfernessa the activist asked her ti identify a photograph of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and to everyone’s surprise, her response was prompt and accurate—she recognised him as Shivaji Maharaj.
This simple yet significant moment underscores her genuine curiosity and respect for Hindu culture and history, showcasing Lutfernessa in her journey for Ghar Wapsi and earnestness in embracing Hindu Dharma.
