The skin serves as the body’s first line of defence, making it susceptible to various infections and ailments. Conditions like eczema, psoriasis, acne, and rosacea can cause discomfort and may even leave lasting scars. While conventional treatments often involve the use of steroid-based creams, Ayurveda offers a gentler and holistic approach to managing these skin issues.

Understanding Common Skin Diseases

Acne: Acne manifests as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, or cysts on the skin, often leaving behind unsightly scars if left untreated. While lifestyle modifications like dietary changes and increased water intake can help prevent breakouts, Ayurvedic remedies offer a safe and effective alternative for managing acne.

Hives: This allergic condition presents as severe itching and red bumps on the skin, triggered by various external or internal factors such as food allergies, medication, or environmental triggers. Ayurvedic medicine for skin allergies can provide relief from the itching and discomfort associated with hives.

Rosacea: Rosacea is a chronic condition characterised by facial flushing, redness, and bumps, often exacerbated by spicy foods or hot beverages. While its exact causes remain unclear, Ayurvedic herbs like aloe vera, turmeric, and green tea can help manage its symptoms effectively.

Eczema: Eczema causes itching, redness, and flaking of the skin, posing significant discomfort to those affected. Ayurvedic herbs such as neem, turmeric, and Triphala offer relief from the symptoms of eczema and help soothe inflamed skin.

Psoriasis: Psoriasis leads to silvery, scaly patches on the skin, typically occurring on the scalp, elbows, and knees. Ayurvedic oils like Winsoria oil have shown effectiveness in managing psoriasis symptoms, providing relief from inflammation and discoloration.

Ayurvedic supplements for skin diseases and their benefits

Ayurveda offers a range of supplements tailored to address various skin concerns:

Nalpamaradi Keram: Derived from different species of the fig tree, this oil improves skin health and helps manage infections like eczema and scabies

Winsoria Oil: Specifically formulated for psoriasis, this oil effectively reduces inflammation, scales, sores, and discolouration associated with the condition.

Nimbadi Kwath: With potent antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, this supplement promotes skin health and accelerates healing of skin inflammation.

Kumkumadi Oil: Renowned for improving skin complexion and treating pimples and marks, this oil is a valuable addition to Ayurvedic skincare routines.

Mahathikthakam Ghrita: Prepared from herbalised ghee, this capsule is beneficial in managing eczema and promoting skin health.
