A DMK IT Wing functionary faced severe backlash and condemnation after posting on social media that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should meet the same fate as the recently deceased Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi. The controversial post by Kasi Kuppusamy, Deputy Secretary of DMK’s Coimbatore East IT Wing, sparked outrage among the public and BJP supporters, leading to its subsequent deletion, and he apologised for the same.

The incident occurred in the wake of the tragic death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who, along with Foreign Minister Hossien Amir-Abdollahian and five other top officials, died in a helicopter crash on May 20th at the Iran-Azerbaijan border. Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences, and the Indian government announced a state mourning on May 21st as a mark of respect.

While the global community mourned the loss, Kasi Kuppusamy’s comment on social media added fuel to the fire. He responded to a post shared by Selva Kumar, Vice-President of the Tamil Nadu BJP Industrial Cell, regarding the Iranian President’s death, saying, “wish the Indian Prime Minister Face same fate like as what has happened to Iranian President.”

@MuraliS27 #MKStalin @Udhaystalin @DMKITwing

The comment quickly went viral, with BJP supporters and the general public demanding stringent action against Kuppusamy. NR, a BJP supporter, questioned, “How dare he write like this against the Prime Minister?” K.V.S Subramaniam, another supporter, remarked, “let’s have Gujarat police come and arrest Kuppusamy like Karnataka police went to Maharashtra to arrest Bhiku Mhatre for allegedly posting a post in X against Congress government in Karnataka.” Bombay Vishu, a prominent BJP supporter, called for filing a case in Maharashtra to ensure justice.

BJP Supporters Demand Arrest

Following outrage from BJP supporters, a DMK supporter named Dravida Podhuudamai posted a post asking Kasi Kuppusamy to delete the post immediately. “Modi is only our ideological enemy but not our genealogical enemy. Please delete it” posted Dravida Podhuudamai.”

Taking his advice, Kasi Kuppusamy immediately deleted the post, fearing consequences. After deleting the post, Kuppusamy posted an apology in his timeline, saying, “I express my resentence if the post on Prime Minister hurt anyone’s feelings. I only motioned about the post of Prime Minister not the individual”.

DMK Supporters Desire the same fate for Prime Minister Modi

Not only Kasi Kuppusamy, but many DMK and I.N.D.I alliance supporters desired same fate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi while replying to BJP functionary Selva Kumar’s post. DMK supporter named Malik Murali Krishnan Ninniyapan posted, saying, “Similar thing is not happening here. A dog (Prime Minister Modi) is travelling in different flights on daily basis”.

DMK supporter Usilampatti Ra Ko posted, “if this is the fate of good people (Iranian President) then imagine the fate of our Ji (Prime Minister Modi)”. Only Allah can save him”.

DMK supporter Saravanan said, “Good people are getting killed, but there is one fellow (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) who is travelling around in private planes and helicopters. Nothing is happening to that fellow.”

— சரவணன்.🇮🇳 I.N.D.I.A. (@saravanan_twitz) May 21, 2024

Though DMK functionary Kasi Kuppusamy has deleted the post and issued repentance, BJP supporters demanded strong action against Kuppusamy for wishing death of Prime Minister. BJP supporters said DMK government will not take action against Kuppusamy, so Maharashtra police, Uttar Pradesh police, or Gujarat police should immediately register a case and arrest Kuppusamy like how Karnataka police arrested Bhiku Mhatre for his post in social media.  DMK police target BJP supporters for their posts in social media against DMK, CM and his family, minorities, hunting them like terrorists by other states that did not bother to take action against DMK men by showing the same zeal.  It would take action only if the complaint comes from DMK IT wing functionaries and not against them. It is their rule book.
