Security forces, in a significant success, seized a huge cache of explosive materials linked to the proscribed Communist Party of India Maoist (CPI Maoist) near the interstate border of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra on Monday, May 6.
According to the details, a joint team of security forces comprising personnel from the Quick Action Team (QAT) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) and C-60 commandos, a specialised counter insurgency unit of the Maharashtra police, was dispatched in a specific area following credible information.
During the search operation, the team seized as many as 6 pressure cookers filled with explosive materials, along with a total of 6 claymore pipes, medicines, plastic bags, blankets, and explosives in the Tipagarh area of Gadchiroli.
According to the information received, while three of the Claymore pipes were empty, the others were filled with explosives and shrapnel. The joint team, after unearthing the explosives, destroyed a total of 9 improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the spot.
The security team further destroyed 3 Claymore pipes, along with burning the remaining materials seized from the spot.

It is noteworthy, that the security forces in recent days have amplified search operations near the interstate bordering regions of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The region encompasses dense forests and hostile terrain, making it a safe haven for extremists for a long .
However, specific operations launched by the forces in recent times in the region have resulted in the neutralisation of the cadres of the banned outfit in significant numbers. More recently, a total of 10 Maoist cadres were gunned down in a fierce encounter that occurred between the forces and the Maoists near the Tekmeta forest area of Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh in the wee hours of April 30.
