In a disturbing incident emerging from the remote area of Chak-477 in Pakistan’s Toba Tek Singh district, a brother took the life of his own sister by suffocating her with a pillow while their family looked on in silence. A video capturing the horrifying event circulated widely on social media on March 28.

According to reports, the accused, Faisal, along with his father, Abdul Sattar, held a pillow over Maria’s face until she succumbed to suffocation within three minutes. Subsequently, the father and son buried the victim’s body within the confines of their home to conceal the heinous act.

The viral footage shows Faisal asking for a glass of water from his father immediately after the fatal act, to which his father complies. Also visible in the video is Faisal’s sister-in-law, who stood there in silence.

Law enforcement authorities have taken action by registering a case and apprehending both perpetrators following the exhumation of the deceased girl identified as Maria’s grave.

The post-mortem examination, as per media reports, revealed that Maria had suffered a broken neck, along with signs of physical abuse on her body.

DPO Ibadat Nisar informed the media that the elder brother of the victim, identified as Shehbaz, is the one who recorded the video of the incident.

In the footage, Shehbaz, the brother of Maria, can be heard urging his father and younger brother, Faisal, to release their sister.

DPO Ibadat Nisar stated that police are conducting raids to apprehend Shehbaz, the individual who filmed the incident.

According to police reports, Maria, aged 22, was strangled to death by her father and brother. The tragic event occurred between midnight on March 17 and 18.

The victim’s sister-in-law, who appears in the video, along with the brother who recorded it, exclusively spoke to the media and implored the police to file a case against the perpetrators based on their complaint.

As per the testimony of the deceased’s elder brother, Shehbaz, the father and brother had been sexually assaulting Maria. He mentioned that when they attempted to intervene to protect Maria, they were met with threats from his father and brother to harm his daughters as well.

Shehbaz explained that he recorded the video of his sister’s murder under the pretext of receiving a phone call from a friend. He further stated that his father and brother became aware that Maria had confided in his wife about the abuse.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has also taken note of the incident in Toba Tek Singh and has requested a detailed report from the Inspector General of Punjab, Dr. Usman, to ensure swift justice in this distressing case.
