In a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended a key suspect from Karnataka’s Bellary district. Identified as Shabbir, the suspect was taken into custody by the anti-terror agency for his alleged involvement in the low-intensity blast that occurred at the popular cafe on March 1.

According to sources within the NIA, interrogation of the suspect is currently underway to gather crucial information related to the blast incident. The explosion, which left ten people injured, was carried out using an improvised explosive device (IED) bomb triggered by a timer.

The development comes after the release of several CCTV footages by the police, which featured the main suspect believed to be around 30 years old. One of the footages captured the suspect carrying a plate of idli inside the cafe, with a shoulder bag suspected to contain the IED bomb.

Subsequent CCTV footage showed the suspect walking towards the restaurant with the bag, and later, changing his clothes and appearance multiple times to evade identification. The NIA had earlier announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The reopening of the Rameshwaram Cafe on March 8 marked a significant step forward in restoring normalcy following the traumatic incident. The cafe, a popular hangout spot in Bengaluru, had been temporarily closed in the aftermath of the blast.

The apprehension of the key suspect by the NIA underscores the agency’s relentless efforts in investigating and bringing to justice those responsible for the heinous act. With the interrogation process underway, authorities are hopeful of uncovering crucial details that could shed light on the motives and perpetrators behind the cafe blast.

The swift action taken by law enforcement agencies, coupled with the support of the public and the reopening of the Rameshwaram Cafe, signals resilience and determination in the face of adversity. As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the victims and holding accountable those involved in perpetrating acts of terror.
