Assam: PM Modi’s historic night stay at UNESCO World Heritage site and Elephant Safari at Kaziranga mesmerizes all

Guwahati: Assam witnessed a historic moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an early morning adventure, delving into the natural wonders of the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Breaking new ground, PM Modi became the first Prime Minister of Bharat to spend a night at this UNESCO World Heritage site.

The day commenced with an enchanting Jeep safari, navigating through the lush greenery of the Kaziranga National Park. Travelling to Mihimukh in the Kohora range, the Prime Minister transitioned seamlessly into an extraordinary elephant safari, commencing at the crack of dawn at 5:30 AM. Expressing his awe, PM Modi shared, “This morning I was at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this UNESCO World Heritage site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna, including the majestic one-horned rhinoceros.”

In a personal reflection, the PM encouraged others to partake in the Kaziranga experience, stating, “I would urge you all to visit Kaziranga National Park and experience the unparalleled beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of the people of Assam. It’s a place where every visit enriches the soul and connects you deeply with the heart of Assam.”

During the elephant safari, Prime Minister Modi, astride an elephant named Pradyumna, shared moments with companions Lakhimi and Phoolmai, offering them sugar cane after the memorable ride. He expressed admiration for the diverse wildlife at Kaziranga, beyond the famed rhinoceros, highlighting the significant elephant population.

The Prime Minister also took time to engage with the lady forest guards of the park, expressing admiration for their dedication and courage in safeguarding the natural heritage of Assam. Modi shared his interactions with Van Durga, the team of women forest guards at the forefront of conservation efforts, acknowledging their inspiring commitment.

Later in the day, PM Modi is set to inaugurate the tallest statue of Bir Lachit Borphukan in Holongapara Jorhat, marking another significant event in his visit to Assam. The day’s activities showcase not only the Prime Minister’s appreciation for nature but also his recognition of the efforts of those dedicated to the preservation of India’s rich biodiversity.
