Tamil Nadu: “He laid emphasis on growth and development,” says BJP President Annamalai on PM’s Chennai speech

In Tamil Nadu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Annamalai has highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech in Chennai, emphasising its focus on growth and development. This underscores the significance of the PM's address in shaping the political discourse in the state and reflecting the BJP's priorities for Tamil Nadu's progress

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ in his speech at a public event in Chennai on March 4.

“I am very happy the whole of Chennai turned up today to welcome our Prime Minister in a big way,” Annamalai told the media.

“Especially you should have seen the scene when PM Modi said that everybody is his family. They switched on their cell phone. They have shown PM the light just to tell him that we are with you. No matter what, we are with you. So that is the kind of response Chennai gave today,” he added.

Annamalai also attacked the DMK, saying that the party is dynastic and known for corruption. “The PM also gave a vision. When Viksit Bharat has to happen, Viksit Tamil Nadu has to happen along with it. So he has laid out emphasis on growth and development, and at the same time, he has attacked corruption. We all know the ruling party (DMK) is dynastic and known for corruption,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4 launched an attack on the Opposition parties of the I.N.D.I Alliance stated that whenever he visits Tamil Nadu, some people get a ‘stomach ache’.

“Your love for me is very old. But for the past few years, whenever I come to Tamil Nadu, some people suffer a stomach ache. They are distressed by the fact that the BJP is gaining popularity here. Even today in Chennai, we see that people have joined us with great enthusiasm,” PM Modi said.

Highlighting the Union Government’s aim of ‘Viksit Tamil Nadu’, he added, “Modi has pledged to create ‘Viksit Tamil Nadu’, along with Viksit Bharat. We are aiming to make the country the third-largest economy in the world. Tamil Nadu has a huge role to play. The Union Government is working consistently to develop cities like Chennai.”

“We are working on urban infrastructure projects worth thousands of crores in Chennai. Whether it is the smart city mission or drinking water, we are pushing forward multiple projects,” he added.

Firing fresh salvos at the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Government in the State, PM Modi said, “The DMK Government has given a cold shoulder to your dreams and needs. Recently, Chennai had to battle with a cyclone; but the DMK Government, instead of helping the people of the state, added to their miseries.”

The Prime Minister said that the DMK Government, instead of engaging in flood management, was doing ‘media management’.

“At times of adversity, the DMK Government do not engage in flood management, rather they do ‘media management’. People’s homes were filled with water, but they kept telling the media that everything was all right. This shows that they have nothing to do with your issues,” said the PM.

“The Union Government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party is sensitive and it worries about the issues of the poor. During the COVID 19 pandemic, we were concerned about free rations for the poor. When the country developed its vaccine, we decided that the poor should get it for free,” he added.
