Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak, Mohan Bhagwat, delivered a thought-provoking address on February 12, 2024, at a function in Delhi, emphasising India’s growing significance on the global stage. Speaking at an event commemorating the 2550th death anniversary of Jain spiritual leader Mahavir Swami, Mohan Bhagwat highlighted India’s unique journey towards self-realisation and unity.

Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks shed light on India’s distinctive approach to seeking truth and happiness. He noted a fundamental difference between India and other societies, stating that while many nations ceased their quest for fulfilment upon exploring the external world, India embarked on an introspective journey, ultimately discovering truth within itself. This introspection, according to Mohan Bhagwat, has positioned India as a beacon of hope for the world, especially as global powers grapple with uncertainty and challenges.

“The world is looking up to Bharat with hope,” Mohan Bhagwat declared, underscoring the growing interest in India’s cultural and philosophical heritage amidst global turmoil. He emphasised the need for unity and inclusivity, asserting that India’s strength lies in its ability to transcend societal divisions and embrace collective harmony.

Addressing contemporary conflicts, Mohan Bhagwat lamented the prevalence of discord and violence both within India and abroad. He attributed these conflicts to a pervasive pursuit of materialistic happiness at the expense of unity and spiritual fulfilment. Mohan Bhagwat’s observations underscored the importance of fostering a sense of togetherness and shared purpose in addressing societal challenges.

In a nod to recent developments, Mohan Bhagwat also referenced the completion of the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, symbolising a spiritual and cultural resurgence in India. He celebrated the return of Ram to Ayodhya, highlighting the significance of this event in India’s collective consciousness.

Throughout his address, Mohan Bhagwat reiterated the importance of embracing unity and transcending societal divisions. He emphasised that regardless of individual backgrounds or affiliations, all Indians are united by a common identity and purpose. This message of unity, he argued, is India’s most potent asset and holds the key to addressing contemporary global challenges.

Mohan Bhagwat’s remarks come at a crucial juncture when India’s role in the global arena is under scrutiny. As geopolitical dynamics evolve and traditional power structures face disruption, India’s cultural and spiritual heritage emerge as potential sources of strength and inspiration. Bhagwat’s call for unity and introspection resonates not only within India but also among global observers seeking solutions to complex issues plaguing humanity.

Mohan Bhagwat’s address serves as a reminder of India’s enduring significance and its potential to lead by example in fostering unity, harmony, and spiritual fulfilment on the world stage.
