In a commendable display of deep spiritual commitment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has earned praise from Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s treasurer, Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj, for exceeding expectations in his preparations for the upcoming Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

According to Swami Ji, 20 days prior to the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi sought guidance on observances for the event as he was slated to be the Yajmana. Religious leaders, in consultation, provided an advisory that included various practices such as fasting and sleeping on the floor.

Despite the advisory suggesting a three-day fast, Prime Minister Modi undertook a remarkable 11-day complete fast, abstaining even from the consumption of grains. Swami Ji lauded this act of devotion, equating it to the profound spiritual practices found in Hindu religious texts, stating, “Fasting is the supreme form of penance.” He further emphasised that PM Modi slept on the floor for the entire duration of 11 days as part of these spiritual observances.

Swami Ji also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s pilgrimage to sacred sites across India during this period, interpreting it as an invitation to divine entities to bless the temple city of Ayodhya. This pilgrimage, Swami Ji noted, was not just a personal spiritual journey but symbolised a national leader’s dedication to seeking blessings for the prosperity and well-being of the Indian people.

In drawing parallels between Prime Minister Modi’s dedication and the legendary devotion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Swami Ji recounted Shivaji Maharaj’s visit to shrines and expressed a desire to renounce his kingdom for spiritual pursuit. This, he noted, exemplified deep spiritual commitment in a national leader, remarking, “It’s rare to find such spiritual depth and dedication in a national leader.”

Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the profound spiritual roots and venerable traditions that continue to guide not only the Prime Minister but also the people of India. Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering commitment to spiritual practices resonates as a beacon of inspiration in the nation’s leadership.
