Jordy Moore, a devoted yoga practitioner from Perth, Australia, has set forth on an extraordinary spiritual journey, spanning over 6,400 kilometers across India, with the noble intention of tracing the trail of the revered 8th-century philosopher Adi Shankaracharya. Inspired by the profound teachings of Advaita Vedanta philosophy, Moore’s pilgrimage encompasses the four mutts established by Adi Shankaracharya in various regions of India, along with his birthplace at Kaladi in Kerala.

In a brief stopover at Ongole on December 26, Moore shared her motivations and aspirations for this transformative journey with a group of intrigued individuals. “I am eager to cover places and shrines associated with the founder of Advaita Vedanta philosophy. My journey aims at helping Indian people achieve spiritual growth and development through a combination of yoga, meditation, and music,” expressed the enthusiastic yoga practitioner.

Moore, adhering to a disciplined routine, embarks on daily treks of 25 to 30 kilometers after a revitalising dawn yoga session. Her chosen route for the first leg of the pilgrimage spans 1,779 kilometers from Puri to Rameswaram. The second leg will conclude at Kaladi after traversing 422 kilometers from Rameswaram. Subsequent destinations include Sharada Peetam at Sringeri in Karnataka, covering a distance of 486 kilometers, and Dwaraka with a travel distance of 1,768 kilometers, before reaching the final destination of Badrinath.

Avoiding nighttime travel, Moore engages with diverse sections of the population en route, aiming to promote spiritual well-being and growth. “After a yoga session at dawn, I walk 25 km to 30 km daily and meet different sections of people en route,” she explained. Her purpose extends beyond personal spiritual exploration; Moore seeks to encourage people to adopt a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet while fostering the connection between mind and body through yoga, meditation, and music.

Furthermore, she advocates for women, urging them to step out of their comfort zones and embrace challenging pursuits. In her interactions, she emphasises the empowerment of girls and women through holistic practices, aiming to inspire positive transformations in their lives.

The duration of Moore’s pilgrimage is estimated to span six to eight months, during which she plans to immerse herself in the rich cultural and spiritual tapestry of India. Her journey not only serves as a personal quest for spiritual enlightenment but also as a bridge between cultures, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the ancient philosophies that continue to shape the spiritual landscape of the country.

As news of Jordy Moore’s unique pilgrimage spreads, she becomes a symbol of cross-cultural spiritual exploration, drawing attention to the enduring legacy of Adi Shankaracharya and the timeless wisdom embedded in Advaita Vedanta philosophy. Her footsteps echo the spiritual resonance of a philosopher who traversed the length and breadth of India, leaving an indelible mark on its spiritual heritage.
