Kerala Governor Dr. Arif Mohammed Khan stated that Sree Nararyana Gurudev redefined the duty of Sanyasins. He was addressing a seminar in Calicut Varsity campus on “The Contributions of Sree Narayana Gurudev, Chattambi Swamiji & Shubhananda Gurudev towards the renaissance of Kerala.” The programme was organised, under the joint auspices of Sanatana Dharma Peetam and Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, the Kerala chapter of Prajna Pravah. The governor said that Sree Narayana Gurudev’s philosophies do have all-time relevance. He enlightened society, during the days of utter darkness, through his philosophies filled with brotherhood and equality. We will lose our identity if we forget the legacy of Sankaracharya and Sree Narayana Gurudev. The messages of those luminaries should be brought to the mainstream of our society. Forgetting the cultural legacy will lead to cultural erosion.

The Dharma of Bharat is all-time relevant. It is relevant beyond the boundaries of the countries. Sanatana Dharma is meant for the entire world. This is the sterling speciality of Bharatiya culture. Other civilisations divided society on the basis of wealth and colour of skin. But Sanatana Dharma kept them all together despite the differences found on the surface. Kulathoor (Kozhikode) Advaithashramam head Swami Chidananda Puri presided. T.N. Sreeshanth, Calicut University Employees Centre General Secretary, gifted the picture of Sree Narayana Gurudev to the Governor. Dr. Mahesh. C, Assistance Professor, Sree Guruvayoorappan College, Kozhikode, piloted the topic before the august assembly. Dr. Abraham Joseph, Senior Professor, Chemistry Department of Calicut Varsity, was the moderator. Samatana Dharma Peetam Visiting Professor Dr. Sreekumar. C and Ottappalam NSS Training College Assistant Professor Dr. M.P. Ravishankar also spoke.

While the entire programme was in progress, SFI men were congregating outside and shouting derogatory slogans against the Governor. We had reported, earlier, the anarchic performance of SFI in the campus to abort the Governor’s programme. They had declared that they would not let the Governor touch the soil of any varsity in the state.
