Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the significant impact of the Ayurgyan scheme, a Central Sector Scheme fostering capacity building in the Ayush sector. Informing the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the winter session, Sarbananda Sonowal said that more than 3,330 trainees, including Ayush doctors and non-Ayush scientists, have benefited from this initiative across India.

Minister Sarbananda Sonowal emphasised the scheme’s dual focus on continued medical education and research & innovation. Replying to a question put by an MP, Sarbananda Sonowal informed that Scientists from Assam, North East and the rest of the country have actively participated, showcasing the scheme’s inclusive approach to skill development.

“The Ayurgyan scheme plays a pivotal role in aligning traditional and contemporary medicine. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it integrates Ayush practices into mainstream healthcare,” stated Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. He underscored the collaboration between the Ministries of Health & Family Welfare and Ayush since 2021, emphasising the implementation of integrative medicine in leading medical institutions like AIIMS.

Minister Sarbananda Sonowal commended PM Modi’s global efforts in promoting traditional medicine, citing the International Day of Yoga, which has been celebrated worldwide since 2015. This year, the Prime Minister led the celebrations from the UN headquarters in New York, with representatives from over 180 countries participating.

“Our Government is dedicated to building ‘One Health,’ integrating the best of traditional and contemporary medicine for a healthier humanity. The Ayurgyan scheme is a testament to this commitment,” affirmed Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. He concluded by echoing PM Modi’s vision of ‘One Family, One Earth, One Future’ as a guiding principle, emphasising the Government’s steadfast pursuit of a holistic approach to healthcare.

The Ayurgyan scheme continues to be a beacon in advancing integrative medicine, contributing to the well-being of the nation’s populace.
