Delhi: Saras Food Festival, begins today inaugurated by Minister of State for Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste

Saras Food Festival will continue till December 17, 2023 . People can enjoy delicious cuisine of 21 states across India

New Delhi: Saras Food Festival has been organised in national capital by Union Ministry of Rural Development from December 1 to December 17, 2023 at Handicraft Bhawan, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi. About 150 women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups from 21 states across the country are participating in this grand arrangement. It has been inaugurated by Minister of State for Rural Development  Faggan Singh Kulaste was also present at the event. who was the Chief Guest at the event. He also met with members of women self-help groups and appreciated their products.

Saras Food Festival provides a glimpse of Indian culture and food to the people of nation capital and across the States. Through this festival people can not only enjoy the delicious cuisine of 21 states but they would also witness the culture and social fabric of these States. People came in the festival also showed their interest to know how different types of food from across the states are being prepared.

Women from self-help groups, formed under the flagship program of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, National Rural Livelihoods Mission, are participating in this festival. They are very much proficient in making rural products and preparing traditional dishes of different States. Other skilled people across the country are also participating in this grand event. This festival gives them opportunity to showcase their different art of food preparing here.

Delicious cuisine from 21 States

People coming to the festival can taste the flavour of delicious cuisine from 21 states. These includes Kair Sagari, Gatte ki Sabzi, Bajra Roti from Rajasthan, Hilsa Fish Curry from West Bengal, Chicken from Telangana, Malabar Biryani from Kerala, Litti Chokha from Bihar, Sarso da Saag and Makke ki Roti from Punjab and famous food from other states. People can also taste the best delicious dishes from Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Gujarat in this food festival.

Rajasthan: Dal Baati Choorma, Pyaaz Kachori, Dal Kachori
Haryana: Rajma Chawal, Bajre Ki Khichdi, Kadhi Chawal
Telangana: Hyderabadi Dum Biryani, Kababs
Odisha: Mughalai Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Ras Malai
Arunachal Pradesh: Special Bamboo Rice, Chowmein, Bamboo Chicken
Maharashtra: Puran Poli, Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Gavran Chicken, Bhakri
Kerala: Malabar Snacks, Uthappam, Kappa Fish Curry, Nannari Serbet, Vanasundari Herbal Chicken, Honey Grape Juice, Fresh Fruit Juices, Spicy Lemonades
Uttar Pradesh: Parathas, Rolls, Kababs
Assam: Mushroom Momos, Sticky steam rice & Mushroom curry, Sticky Rice Kheer
Punjab: Sarso da Saag & Makke ki Roti, Chole Bhature, Ram Laddo, Dal Makhni & Makke ki Roti
Andhra Pradesh: Potherekulu, Tandoori Chicken, Andhra Chicken, Dum Biryani
Gujarat: Dhokla, Dal
Uttarakhand: Jhunger Kheer, Pizza
Goa: Goan Fish Curry, Prawn Fry, Ros Omlette

This festival showcases Women Empowerment

Saras Food Festival is a unique example of women empowerment. About 150 women entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups from 21 states are participating in this event which gives them an opportunity to showcase their skill in the field of food making. This festival is not only to introduce people to the food culture of our country but to inspire other rural women also. This is an initiative of Union Ministry of Rural Development as an effort to empower women at large scale.

Free Entry

People willing to visit Saras Food Festival don’t require ticket for entry. Entry is free for visitors. This festival will run from 11 am to 10 pm till December 17, 2023. People can come here with their families and enjoy the moments and taste of delicious cuisines across 21 states.
