In a recent development, the State President of BJP Scheduled Castes Morcha, Shajumon Vattekkat, has reported that the National Commission for Scheduled Castes is seeking an explanation from the Director of the Kerala State Development Corporation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Limited regarding these allegations.
According to Shajumon Vattekkat, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has initiated action in response to a complaint filed by him. The Commission has directed the Director to submit all relevant documents related to the BSc (Nursing) admissions at Palakkad Medical College by December 10, 2023.
The BJP’s Scheduled Castes Morcha alleges that the SC reservations were compromised during the admission process, raising questions about fairness and adherence to reservation policies. The National Commission’s intervention underscores the significance of ensuring transparency and upholding reservation quotas, particularly in educational institutions.
As the investigation unfolds, stakeholders and the public await the findings to determine whether there have been any irregularities in the admission process that may have impacted SC reservations. The National Commission for Scheduled Castes’ scrutiny highlights the commitment to addressing concerns related to the equitable implementation of reservation policies and ensuring social justice in educational opportunities.
BJP leader said in his complaint that Palakkad Medical College was launched using the SC Development Funds; but, now the state government makes a direct move to launch a Government Nursing College in the medical college under Health Department, a blatant and carefully orchestrated conspiracy to sabotage the existing SC reservation system.
Shajumon says that at present, the reservation for the SC communities in Palakkad Medical College is 70 per cent and ST reservation is 2 per cent. Government attempts to sabotage this reservation system. He says the launch of nursing college under the health department in the medical colleges coming under the Indian Institute of Medical Sciences and SC Development is illegal.
Shajumon alleged that this particular government action would sabotage the existing reservation. SC ST reservation of 72 per cent will be reduced by 10 per cent. If this conditional continues, MBBS reservation in the Palakkad Medical College will be sabotaged. Shajumon had demanded, in his complaint to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, to put the nursing college under SC Development Department.
