Gaza: IDF confirms death of top Hamas commander ‘Ibrahim Biari’ in one of its airstrikes

In a staggering development, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have killed a top Hamas terrorist commander in a precise airstrike conducted by the Israeli Air Force after receiving sufficient and adequate intelligence, thus weaking Hamas operational capabilities

On October 31, 2023, the Israel Defence Forces claimed that it killed the commander of the Hamas Central Jabaliya Battalion, Ibrahim Biari in a strike on the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, a media agency reported. However, Hamas has denied the presence of one of its leaders in the camp spokesperson Hazem Qassemi in a statement.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) noted that Biari was one of the leaders responsible of sending tom conduct a terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, a media agency reported. Earlier the IDF spokesperson Lt Colonel Richard Hecht said that the IDF was targeting a very senior Hamas commander in the area around the camp.

Death of Hamas Commander

In a statement, the IDF said “A short while ago, the IDF fighter jets acting on the intelligence received from the ISA killed Ibrahim Biari, the commander of Hamas Central Jabaliya Battalion. Biari was one of the leaders responsible for sending Nukhba terrorist fighters to attack Israel on October 7, 2023.Numreous Hamas terrorists were killed in the strike.”

The IDF said Ibrahim Biari oversaw all the military operations in the northern Gaza Strip since it started its ground operations. He was involved in multiple attacks on Israel going back decades. The IDF said it had carried out wide scale terrorists and terror camps, infrastructure belonging to the Central Jabaliya Battalion according to a report by a media organisation.

IDF Military Operations

The IDF in its strikes damaged Hamas command and control facilities and its ability to direct military activity against the IDF soldiers in Gaza. It has said large number of its terrorists were killed in the strike which has resulted in the collapse of the underground infrastructure that was being used by Hamas.

Taking to X, the IDF said “Over the past day the IDF troops operated in a Hamas terrorist stronghold in Jabaliya, northern Gaza. The stronghold was used for the training and execution of terrorism activities. During the ground activity the troops eliminated 50 terrorists as well as destroyed the entrances to terrorist tunnels and subsequent weapons.

At least 50 people were killed in the strike and subsequent collapse, an Israeli media agency reported citing Palestinian reports. The IDF reiterated its call on the residents of the area for to move to the south for their safety. In another statement on X, another barrage of rockets just launched at the capital Tel Aviv and central Israel.

Meanwhile the IDF spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said thet the fighting in the Gaza Strip is becoming more complex as soldiers operate deeper into region, the Israel media agency said. He said that this is Hand to hand combat fighting. In fierce battles that took place today, we lost troops, Hagari said that two Israeli soldiers were killed on October 7, 2023, as troops worked to capture a Hamas stronghold in Jabaliya according to the Israeli media agency reported.

Speaking on an intercepted missile and several drones launched from Yemen towards Israel on October 31, 2023, he said. “There are many elements in the region that under Iranian orders such as thr Houthis. He noted that they tried to challenge Israel and divert their attention from the war in Gaza. He further said that we remain focused on the fighting in Gaza. He said that the if will know how to respond at the time and place of our choosing.
