In a startling incident of adultery recently uncovered in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, a married woman orchestrated the killing of her husband in collusion with her paramour. Not only did she plot the murder, but she actively participated in its execution. She took charge of every aspect, from the planning stages to carrying out the horrendous murder to disposing of the body and the weapon, all in tandem with her lover, identified as Shamshad. It was only when the victim’s father lodged a case that the truth behind this sinister plot was brought to the fore.
According to reports, the victim was a local leader affiliated with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) named Prem Manohar Kharwar. The accused individuals are identified as Bindu Kahrwar and her accomplice, Shamshad Mohammad. Both Bindu and Shamshad have been apprehended by the police, following a report filed by Prem’s father, Ram Sanehi Kharwar.
Sonbhadra Police informed the media that on October 13, Ram Sanehi Kharwar notified Cantt police about his son’s disappearance over the past 4-5 days. Subsequently, the body was discovered concealed in the bushes, eight kilometres away from where they lived. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed based on his complaint, and a postmortem examination was conducted.
The police provided additional information, stating that the wife of the deceased, Bindu, was involved in a relationship with another man named Mohammad Shamshad. Together, they used an axe to commit the act of killing Prem. They subsequently disposed of his body nearly eight kilometres away from their residence, along with the weapons used in the crime, were discarded in an abandoned well. The vehicle they used has also been seized, stated Dr. Yashveer Singh, a police officer.
According to media reports, on the intervening nights of October 12 and 13, Prem’s family discovered his body among the bushes. They promptly informed the police, who recovered the partially decomposed remains and launched an investigation into the incident. Prem’s father alleged that Bindu and Shamshad were responsible for the murder, leading to their subsequent detention by the police.
During the interrogation, Bindu (30-year-old), revealed to the police that she had been married to Prem for nearly a decade, and they also had children together. Initially, their relationship was fine, but over time, Bindu grew discontented. She mentioned that Prem frequently spent days away from home for work and would become evasive when questioned about it.
He would often retort, “Mind your own business,” which deeply upset Bindu.
Around one and a half years ago, Bindu happened to meet Shamshad at the market. He hailed from the neighbouring village and worked there. They soon established a regular meeting pattern; he would frequently visit Bindu’s village, and she reciprocated by visiting his. Shamshad brought gifts for her and his words brought her comfort. After some months, Bindu learned that Shamshad was six years her junior. By then, these age disparities no longer held much significance for her.
Whenever Prem went out, Bindu would seize the chance to meet Shamshad. On one occasion, an elderly man caught them together and even informed Prem. In a fit of rage, Prem assaulted Bindu and confined her to their home. She remained isolated for days, not daring to step outside. When an opportunity finally presented itself, she rushed to meet Shamshad, and the entire village soon got wind of the affair. People gossiped endlessly about Bindu, but she paid no heed.
Not content with merely forbidding Bindu from seeing Shamshad, Prem also compelled Shamshad to cut ties with her. Bindu expressed, “I longed to be with Shamshad forever, and I grew weary of these restrictions. It was then that we resolved to end Prem’s life, awaiting the right moment.”
“On October 8, when Prem came back home and informed me that he would be spending the night, I promptly contacted Shamshad to let him know about the situation. I had a meal with the entire family, and after Prem retired to his room, I invited Shamshad in and fetched an axe from outside,” recounted Bindu.
“We made sure no one was awake, then, using the same axe, we struck Prem multiple times around his neck. He began to bleed profusely and soon succumbed. We wrapped him in a piece of cloth and meticulously cleaned all traces of blood from the floor. Using Shamshad’s motorcycle, we disposed of Prem’s body in the forest. The murder weapon, the axe, was discarded into the well,” detailed Bindu.
Afterwards, they went back home, meticulously cleaning the room to erase any traces or evidence. They changed their attire and fled together. They sought refuge in a neighbouring village, Turra valley, for a period. However, when they eventually ventured out to relocate once more, the police apprehended them.
Similar case from past
In September, Organiser reported a similar case, where a woman with her paramours killed her husband.
In Kanpur, a married woman was trapped by a Muslim man. She was groomed to the extent that she decided to kill her own husband for the Muslim man.
Notably, Priyanka and Ravikant Pandey were a married couple. Ravikant worked in a factory in Guajart’s Rajkot and hence mostly stayed away from her. She met Anas Hashmi at her home, as he was a good friend of Ravikant. Hashmi is a native of the Machariya Barkati Masjid area.
After Ravikant left, Hashmi started visiting Priyanka frequently. His visits drove them close and they became lovers. Soon, their secret became a topic of discussion in the village and the locals informed Ravikant about it. Upon learning the truth, Ravikant returned home, 15 days ago.
He confronted Priyanka and asked her to stay away from Hahmi. Instead of being ashamed of her act, she was irked over her husband’s decision. She was so madly in love with Hashmi that they planned Ravikant’s murder.
As per the plan, Priyanka and Hashmi stopped talking to each other and behaved as if nothing had ever happened. As per the plan, Hashmi met Ravikant, and they drank alcohol on September 1. Under the influence of alcohol, Hashmi took him to Hanspuram, near Gangapur. Where he took out a surgical knife from his pocket and slit his throat.
As per the police, after the murder, Anas came to meet Priyanka all soaked in blood. He held her hands, so Priyanka’s hands also had her husband’s blood on them. After washing their hands and face, both of them stopped for some time and went to their homes. Then, at around 10:30, Priyanka informed her family about her husband’s disappearance.
After the disappearance of security guard Ravikant, mother Shakuntala, Sushil Pandey, his brother and other family members first raised suspicion on the wife. Family members had told the police that Priyanka had relations with many people, including her husband’s friend Anas. Because of this, she stays away from home. On the basis of Priyanka’s call details and interrogation of the people of the locality, the police first picked up Anas and disclosed the murder case.
