As per the directions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to expedite the resolution of consolidation-related cases, the Consolidation Department has initiated Gram Adalats in several cities throughout the State to address the pending cases.
Through these Gram Adalats, a total of 6,485 cases have been identified, and 3,850 of them have been resolved in 118 villages of 51 districts since September.
In the Gram Adalat, key officials such as the Consolidation Officer, Assistant Consolidation Officer, Deputy Director Consolidation, and Bandobast Adhikari Chakbandi, among others, are present. These officials diligently work together to provide on-the-spot resolutions, resulting in the settlement of numerous long-pending cases, some of which had been unresolved for over a decade.
Consolidation Commissioner GN Naveen Kumar said that as per the intention of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Gram Adalat is being organised by running a campaign in various cities of the State, in which illegal occupation, family, and business disputes are being resolved on the spot. He further added that this campaign commenced on September 6 and has been ongoing.
Additional Consolidation Commissioner Anurag Patel said that the highest number of cases–409–were identified in Ballia during the Gram Adalat. These cases are related to the three villages of Ballia–Farsatar, Chandadih, and Piprauli. In the Gram Adalat, 126 cases were disposed of in a day, while 283 cases are yet to be disposed of.
Similarly, in four villages of Ayodhya, namely Malethubujurg, Laxmanpurgant, Kotiya, and Sadri, a total of 407 cases were identified. The remaining 172 cases are yet to be resolved. 374 cases were identified in five villages of Banda, Arsauda, Sylheta, Khaptihakhurd Bangar, Bhadawal, and Madaulikala Bagar, out of which 263 cases have been resolved and 111 cases are yet to be resolved.
The Gram Adalats placed a special focus on cases pending for over a decade, resulting in significant progress. During this period, a maximum of 60 cases of Hardoi were settled, while 54 cases of Jaunpur were settled in second place, followed by Azamgarh with 53 cases in third place, Badaun with 42 in fourth, and Auraiya with 33 cases in fifth place. The Consolidation Commissioner mentioned that more than 358 cases pending for more than 10 years were resolved in Gram Adalat.
