Jharkhand: Two minor girls gang-raped by six in Chaibasa

A shocking incident has been reported from West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand where two minor girls were gang-raped by as many as six accused of the neighbouring villages on Friday, September 29.

According to media reports, girls had gone for their routing work to Nova Munda of Chaibasa on Friday, and when they were waiting to return home in the evening, they were offered a lift by two youths from the Padapahad village on a motorcycle.

The youths later pretended that they were running out of petrol and took the girls to the neighbouring Dudhbila village, where they also called as many as four of their friends. The girls were then taken to some unknown place by the accused, where all of the six accused gang-raped them.

Later, the girls were left by the accused following which the girls somehow managed to reach home where they narrated their ordeal to their family members. It’s been reported that after learning about the incident the family members of the victims reached Novamunda police station and filed a complaint against the culprits.

Upon receiving information the police immediately swung into action and arrested all the accused. Speaking with the correspondent of Organiser , Novamunda, circle inspector, said that the accused in the case have already been arrested and sent to jail. Superintendent of police (SP), West Singhbhum Asutosh Sekhar has also confirmed the development.

Gangrape with techie in 2022

The horrific development that unfolded with the minors refreshed the memory of last year’s horrific gangrape with the software engineer near the airport in old Chaibasa under Mufassil police station limits of West Singhbhum in October.

The incident occured when the girl had gone near the Tekrahatu airstrip near old airport to roam around with a friend when a group of ten people forcibly took her to a remote area and took turn to rape her. The accused also beat up and chased the male friend of the girl and snatched her valuables, later recovered by the police.

Later, on the basis of the complaint filed by the victim, the Jharkhand police arrested the accused including minors involved in the horrifying act. The incident attracted wide scale media coverage at the national level and sparked outrage in netizens who questioned the state of law and order in the tribal dominated state of Jharkhand.
