In a massive crackdown, Bihar police nabbed as many as three active cadres of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist). According to reports, the Jamui police received some credible inputs about the presence of two wanted Maoists in Charkapatthar police station limits, following which a joint team of district police and Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested and nabbed two Maoists.

The arrested cadres have been identified as Shankar Yadav alias Shaki Yadav alias Shako Yadav and Kishun Yadav alias Krishna Yadav, both residents of Bargoria village, under Charkapatthar police station limits of Jamui district. Both the accused have been active in the bordering region, and details pertaining to their history sheet have been sought from the bordering police stations, informed Jamui police in a tweet on October 4.

The accused have been wanted in connection with a case registered in October 2014 in Khaira police station under section 147/148/149/120b/307 of Indian penal code (IPC) and other relevant sections of the Arms Act , Explosives Substance Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The development occurred a day after the district police and SSB in another specific operation nabbed Ravindra Hansada alias Nauka Hansada from his village under Garhi police station limits of Jamui. According to the reports after receiving specific Intel, a joint team of security personnel raided and apprehended Nauka who has been on the run since long.

Nauka was wanted in connection with a case registered against him in Garhi police station under Section 147/148/149/302/380/427 of the Indian penal code (IPC), and other relevant sections of the Arms Act, Explosives Substance Act and Anti Terrorism Act in 2003.

Arms and ammunition seized in Gaya

It is to be noted that earlier in a combing operation launched in Dhangai police station limits of Gaya, a joint team of security personnel had also seized arms and ammunition from a hideout on Saturday, September 30. According to the reports the joint team of SSB and district police had unearthed as many as 13 detonators near Kumbhi village under Bakarjholi Pahadi region.

The team further unearthed two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing 7 and 15 kg respectively alongside seizing a three not three gun, 2 country made pistols and 7 live cartridges of 8mm. The joint team had also seized as many as six batteries, 1 black tape and 1 bundle of fuse wire from the Maoist hideout.

It’s been reported that the Maoists had planted the explosives and other materials in a plastic bag. Upon unearthing, the joint team destroyed the IEDs recovered from the spot and diffused all of the detonators. According to the police the operation was launched on the specific input received about Maoist planning to carry out violence act for which explosives, arms and ammunition have been kept in hiding.

Recent operations against Maoist in Bihar

It is to be noted earlier another senior member of the outlawed CPI Maoist, Pramod Mishra was also arrested in a swift operation launched by a joint team of Bihar police in Gaya district on August 10. Mishra, a member of the central committee of the outlawed outfit was arrested along with his associate Anil Yadav from Tikari Subdivision of Gaya.

Mishra revealed that he was working as the bureau chief of the Eastern Regional Bureau of the outlawed CPI Maoist and was assigned with the task of reviving the Maoist insurgency in the Bihar and Jharkhand region.

Mishra joined the left wing insurgency in 90s and rose to the ranks in the erstwhile Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), a far left extremist group responsible for wide scale violence, operating mainly in undivided Bihar. After the merger of the group with the People’s War Group in 2004, Mishra was promoted as a central committee member of the newly formed CPI Maoist.

Earlier in another development, the Kaimur police in a swift operation had busted a mini gun factory and nabbed three men associated with the newly appointed zonal commander of the Maoist group from Bardiha village under Aghaura police station limits of the Kaimur district on August 9.

Initial investigation had revealed that Vijay Shankar and others accused involved in gun making were tasked by Rohit Rai, newly appointed zonal commander of one of the Naxal groups active in the region. The accused were arrested on the inputs provided by Rohit Rai during the course of Interrogation following which a police team raided the house of Vijay Shankar and nabbed the three.

Interrogation of the accused suggested that the zonal commander, Rohit was involved in a plot to revive the insurgency in the region and was actively involved in fortifying the presence of his Naxal group on Kaimur Pahadi. It’s been also reported that Rohit was part of a group whose other members are yet to be arrested by the police.

Notably, the police had also arrested a man identified as Mukesh Kumar Sahni during a vehicle check exercise in Bhagwanpur police station limits in May. The police team had also recovered arms, manpack along with cartridges from the possession of the accused, though one of the associates of Sahni identified as Rohit Rai successfully evaded arrest and was absconding since then.

Rohit Rai, a resident of Maniyari under Bhabua police station limits along with his associate Pramod Yadav a resident of Gaya was arrested by the Aurangabad police and STF in a joint operation from the outskirts of Pema village under Goh police station limits of Aurangabad on Monday August 07. The joint team also seized 2 country made pistols along with cartridges and extremist literature from the possession of the accused.
