The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has busted a huge conspiracy against India by Bangladesh and Myanmar-based Chin Kuki Mizo terrorist organisation in Manipur.
NIA on September 30, arrested one terrorist, namely Seiminlun Gangte from Churachandpur in Manipur, in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by Myanmar and Bangladesh-based leadership of terror outfits to wage war against the Government of India. The Bangladesh and Myanmar-based leaders of the Chin Kuki Mizo terrorist organisation were planning to exploit the current ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur to wage war against India, a statement issued by the investigating agency reads. NIA has registered a suo moto case on 19.07.2023 at New Delhi.
The statement further reads, “Investigation of RC 24/2023/NIA/DLI by NIA revealed that , Myanmar and Bangladesh based militant groups have entered into a conspiracy with a section of militant leaders in India to indulge in incidents of violence with an intention to drive a wedge between different ethnic groups and to wage war against the Government of India. And for this purpose, the aforementioned leadership have been providing funds to procure arms, ammunition and other types of terrorist hardware which are being sourced both, from across the border, as well as from other terrorist outfits active in North Eastern States of India to stoke the current ethnic strife in Manipur.”
NIA statement said the accused has been brought to New Delhi after his arrest and will be produced before the Jurisdictional Court. Further Investigations in the case are in progress.
It should be mentioned that the Mizoram state police and Assam Rifles in a joint operation on June 5 this year nabbed three Chin Kuki militants with a huge cache of ammunition. The arrested militants are involved in the smuggling of war-like stores in Lawngtlai district with the help of some locals, the Assam Rifles sources said.
Security forces seized 1,008 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, 2 rounds of 9 mm ammunition and one each round of UBGL 40/46 mm ammunition and 38 spl ammunition were recovered during the operation.
Notably, several Chin Kuki militants have been arrested in Mizoram since March this year when the Bangladesh army started an offensive against the insurgent group. After the Bangladesh Army’s offensive against the KCNA, more than 500 people from the neighbouring country’s Chittagong Hill Tracts have taken refuge in Lawngtlai district in Mizoram.
