In the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, a gruesome murder case has recently been uncovered. In the Gobindapur region of Swarupnagar, a field in Gunrajpur yielded the distressing discovery of a woman’s partially burned remains, her hands bound behind her knees. Reports claim that the body was found on September 26.
Eyewitnesses reported that the woman had her hands bound to a wooden bar using a rope, and her face was concealed with a stole before being set on fire.
The villagers discovered the charred body of the woman when one of them went to the field to pluck flowers. Her face was completely charred beyond recognition. Police later shifted the body to the hospital for postmortem.
It is believed that the attackers set fire to her face to prevent the identification of the dead body.
After being rushed to Sarapur Hospital, the woman was pronounced dead by the attending doctors. This incident has stirred up widespread panic and fear in the vicinity. Law enforcement has confirmed that an investigation into the murder has been launched. According to police sources, a box of glasses bearing an address in Faridpur, Bangladesh, was discovered in the deceased woman’s bag. Preliminary findings from the police suggest that the woman was a Bangladeshi citizen.
BJP leader Amit Malviya targeted the Mamata Banerjee government, saying that the incident showcases the law and order situation in West Bengal.
“Tied-up body of a young woman with her throat slit and face charred beyond recognition, was found in a pool of blood from an orchard close to the India-Bangladesh border in North 24-Parganas. But Mamata Banerjee won’t utter a word. It won’t be a surprise if criminals, patronised by the TMC, and involved in women trafficking, are behind this. But then it would mean a silent burial to the tragic death,” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Police Superintendent Bashirhat Jobey Thomas said the case has been cracked and the details will be shared with the media later in the day.
