The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada on September 22 extended former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief, N Chandrababu Naidu for two more days. The court’s decision came as the previously imposed remand ended on September 22.
On September 19, the Andhra Pradesh High Court deferred bail petition filed by Chandrababu Naidu’s legal team till September 21. The TDP head was represented before the court virtually by his legal counsel supreme Siddarth Luthra.
Chandrababu Naidu was sent to judicial custody on September 10 for 14 days, till September 23, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau court in Vijayawada in connection with an alleged Skill Development Corporation scam.
Earlier on September 17, TDP raised the issue of Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest before the Andhra Pradesh Government at the all-party meeting, the discussion, however, sparked a heated argument between TDP and YSR Congress leaders, sources said.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that TDP leader Ram Mohan Naidu has demanded the Union Government’s intervention in Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest, alleging that the democracy in the State was in danger under Chief Minister Jagan Reddy’s Government.
On September 18, TDP MPs also held a protest near the Gandhi statue on Parliament premises against the arrest of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and party president Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking to ANI, Lok Sabha member Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said the party will “definitely raise” the TDP chief’s arrest during the special session of the Parliament.
The case in which Chandrababu Naidu is arrested pertains to the establishment of clusters of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the State of Andhra Pradesh, with a total estimated project value of Rs 3300 crore, as per the officials.
The agency officials also claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss to the State Government in excess of Rs 300 crore.
