The war of words lit by the DMK on Sanatana Dharma is spreading like a wild fire. In a video, which was posted on the social media platform X, Leoni made a provocative comments that have ignited a fresh wave of debate and concern. In that, Dindigul Leoni is seen making a statement that has drawn widespread attention. He says “Today, a false narrative has been created that Lord Rama was born in the place where Babar Masjid was situated in Ayodhya. Destruction of Babar Masjid and building of Ram temple by Sanatana Dharma forces is the biggest betrayal by them.”

It is not explicitly clear when and where he made these statements. By the looks of it, it seems that he is addressing a political rally and it could have been recent one.

Dindigul Leoni, in addition to his political affiliations, holds the position of chairman at the Tamil Nadu Textbooks Corporation. During the 2021 assembly campaign he made sexiest comments on women. In a video Dindigul Leoni can be heard saying. “In a cowshed, people use a milking machine for foreign cows. These days, women drink milk from foreign cows because of which they have put on weight. Those days, a woman’s hip resembled the number 8. When she lifted her child, the little one stayed put on the hip. But now they’ve become like a barrel because of which women cannot carry their children on their hips.”

During debate shows, in the garb of cracking jokes, he would compare and criticise Hindu religion and Hindu’s spiritual beliefs, customs in mocking manner. As a reward he was made chairman of text book society. After he became its chairman, text books were full of Christian and Muslim names and neutral Hindu names in illustrations, lessons and stories. He made lesson on Karunanidhi, Dravidian movement. Slow poison of Dravidian ideologies is being fed into the young minds by his team.

He had faced condemnation for making a crass comment on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. His remarks were widely condemned, especially because of the nature of language which has become a part of his public interactions.

These comments coming from Leoni only indicate that the DMK as a whole is consistently making negative remarks about Sanatana Dharma, a religion followed by the majority of the population, seemingly for the sake of garnering votes.
