Philosophers, thinkers, patriotic leaders, astrologers, saints, and seers have predicted that India would return to Amrit Kaal. A period where the entire world will witness the resurgence of the Sanatan Bharat, which will save the world from dark and demonic greed. The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has resolved to build the nation on Bharatiya knowledge and Bharatiya philosophy by strengthening the family institution, creating a fraternity-based harmonious society, and developing entrepreneurship with Swadeshi spirit. When the dawn breaks, the entire Sangh Parivar sing in praise of the Motherland, “Namaste Sadavastale Matrubhumi…”.
Patriotism has immense potential to bring the much talked about blissful time. It will cement the religious, caste, and language divides in the country; patriotism is a powerful weapon against corruption, graft, and mismanagement. A person imbibed with patriotism can achieve phenomenal success and perform great deeds for the country. In view of the growing menace of religious fanatics, caste and parochial leaders, it is essential to plant patriotism in the minds of the youth. Patriotism mixed with physical and intellectual capacity always has a magical effect on the country’s economic, social, cultural and religious development. A fraternity-based harmonious society, as visualised by the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, is possible through patriotism.
Today, parochialism hurts the domestic market. Uneducated people in the unorganised sector lose their profit margin as they fail to communicate in their mother tongue, Hindi and easily fall into the trap of middlemen and traders. Language fanatics in some states do not allow people to learn the national language, Hindi and indirectly bring ruin to the economy of the small traders, artisans and farmers. One common language is necessary for interaction among people; it will boost domestic trade, tourism, pilgrim tourism, and hospitality sectors. The mother tongue, Hindi, will not obliterate the regional languages; rather, it will strengthen those languages; People from different states will exchange ideas, skills and knowledge for mutual growth. A simpler version of Sanskrit should be popularised along with Hindi in a mission mode across the country; it will quicken the process of national integration. The Uttarakhand Government has taken a historic decision to develop one Sanskrit-speaking village in each of the 13 districts in the State, and Sanskrit is the second official language in Uttarakhand.
The study of the Sanskrit language will give clues to many scientific innovations. In the past, cartloads of Sanskrit scriptures and manuscripts were transported to Asia and Europe, which later inspired many scientific discoveries and religions in different countries. Today, more than 25 universities in Germany teach Sanskrit, and Germany has produced the largest number of Sanskrit scholars in the last five decades. Sanskrit has tremendous potential to integrate India, and learning this language has a positive influence on human behaviour and culture. Learning Sanskrit does not mean one will not study English, which is also essential now for exchanging technology, advanced skills and knowledge. Intense and relentless research on Sanskrit scriptures and manuscripts may give India clues to develop advanced weapon systems, medicines, economy and social life. Dr Vijay Bedekar of Thane in Mumbai is a Gynecologist, and he has dedicated his life to preserving and researching the ancient manuscripts he painstakingly collected from the remote villages of Maharashtra. He has established an Institute of Oriental Studies on his own premises for preservation and research of rare manuscripts. The writer met Dr Vijay Bedekar in 1990 and published his interview in the Indian Express in his pen name “Siddharth.” A few people like Vijay Bedekar show relentless commitment to protecting India’s cultural heritage. People who do not know the importance of Sanskrit behave like a blind man touching the tail of an elephant and imagining it as a rope. The language Sanskrit will instill Amrit in the life of people.
The foundation of the Amrit Kaal is based on the youth’s intellectual and physical strength. In the field of innovation, India rose from 81 ranks in 2015 to 46 in 2021 in the Global Innovation Index (GII). AI, cloud, mobility, green tech, health tech, etc., have steadily progressing in the last five years. The National Education Policy 2020 has advocated that “wherever possible, the medium of instruction until at least Grade 5, but preferably till Grade 8 and beyond, will be in the mother tongue-regional language” for public and private schools. Studying in the mother tongue helps children understand the concepts clearly, and does not clog their minds when they grow up. It also helps them master English and Maths, which are very important in life. Until 1984, most students who qualified for the civil services and in the nationalised banks’ officers’ grade exams studied in regional languages. Mother tongue has a magical effect on a person’s capacity to understand and grow, though it can’t give the child an anglicised accent.
India, for centuries has been attacked, humiliated and subjugated by external forces; its economy, culture and civilisation were always under attack. Despite continuous effort to erase this ancient civilisation, Indian culture and civilisation has survived due to its core strength, which is not material but spiritual. The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) of RSS’ resolve to build the nation on Bharatiya knowledge and Bharatiya philosophy is the need of the hour. Efforts are on to produce Sanskrit scholars who can read and explain the scriptures to people in the common man’s language. Though the foreign rules had destroyed much of our knowledge source and dented our confidence level, the Bharatiya knowledge and Bharatiya philosophy are very much enshrined in every Indian family.
In order to preserve this precious knowledge and philosophy the government’s look-within approach will yield results. India is a treasure trove of microeconomic activities which are Swadeshi in nature. Only the Indian handicraft sector can amass huge wealth for the country if its original grace and artistry is preserved. India’s countless artisans, with their imagination and creativity, add incredibly high value to ordinary organic material; they inherit the priceless skills from their forefathers and pass them on to the younger generations. There are innumerable indigenous environment-friendly techniques that were used to keep the house cool and warm; there was technique to lift water to the hilltop and send messages with sound. The Ram Setu is an architectural marvel as the materials used to make the Setu are well explained in the scriptures. With talents, knowledge, skills, imagination and creativity, each Indian can foresee the shape of things to come-the Amrit Kaal.
