The Director General of Police in Rajasthan, Umesh Mishra addressed the media in which he said that “I would like to apprise you that there is no direct implication of Monu (Manesar) in this incident. However, his involvement in the background is still under scrutiny.”
While speaking over the involvement of Monu Manesar in Nasir-Junaid murder, Mishra said that Monu was not present at the location of the double murder. He further added that the police were probing the angle of indirect involvement of Monu Manesar.
The victims Nasir and Junaid were from Ghatmika village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district. It was on February 16 that the charred remains of the two cousins were discovered in a vehicle near Loharu town in Bhiwani, Haryana.
Meanwhile, the families of Junaid and Nasir had alleged that members of the Bajrang Dal were responsible for their kidnapping, assault, and murder. Bajrang Dal ruled out this claim.
A report by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) had confirmed that the charred bodies were of Junaid and Nasir and blood stains that were found in a vehicle in which they were allegedly kidnapped also matched.
The Rajasthan Police took to twitter to clear the air over Monu’s involvement in the double murder and stated, “Monu remains a named defendant in the FIR. An active investigation is underway into his role in conspiring and aiding this grave offence.”
Who is Monu Manesar?
Meanwhile, Monu Manesar, is a prominent figure who is associated with cow vigilantism in Haryana and is among the 21 accused individuals named in the FIR pertaining to the murders of Junaid (35) and Nasir (27).
Monu, a local member of the Bajrang Dal and oversees a regional network of cow protectors. He shares videos on social media platforms in which he showcases how he keeps a tab on the alleged cow smugglers. Soon after his name came up in the high-profile murder case, Monu was on the run.
Support from Haryana Police
Speaking on the issue of whether or not they were getting support from the Haryana Police, the DGP of Rajasthan police said, “ the issue of whether two Police forces are cooperating or not is not something that should be discussed publicly.”
However, Mishra stressed on the fact they have received help from the senior officials of Haryana Police as and when required. He further said that sometimes not arresting an accused doesn’t mean that the police force doesn’t want to arrest the person. He added, “It is possible that they lack intelligence or they didn’t get successful in making the arrest.”
Of late , Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused his Haryana counterpart, Manohar Lal Khattar for diverting attention from his inability to quell communal violence in Nuh by asserting that Rajasthan police had the freedom to take action against cow vigilantes. Gehlot had allegedly stated that the Haryana police were not cooperating in the Nasir-Junaid murder case.
Islamist Ecosystem’s fake claims of Manesar’s involvement in Nuh Violence
Haryana’s Nuh was marred by severe violence on July 31. The Islamists and leftist ecosystem went all out to whitewash the violence unleashed by the Islmist mobs against the Jalabhishek Shobha Yatra in Nuh. Hence they targeted Monu Manesar and blamed him for the violence.
