Fourteen panchayats in Haryana have written a letter to the administration including the police in which they have openly said that they would boycott the Islamic community. The decision was taken post the communal clashes in Haryana’s Nuh. During the deadly violence which hit the small town of Haryana on July 31, the Islamists attacked Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Shobha Yatra and later on devotees mainly women and children were attacked.

Videos that have gone viral on social media showed how the  violent Islamists attacked the devotees from the hilltop. In order to prevent them from escaping , hundreds of vehicles were also burnt.  Later on videos had emerged about the women sharing their plight as to how the Islamists had asked them to remove their Hindu identities.

How will the boycott affect the Islamists?

In the letter by the Panchayats, an appeal has been made to not give houses, shops on rent to the Muslims. Also proper verification is being done of the street vendors before they are being given entry into the villages.

Such a move will adversely affect the Islamists economically

While speaking to the media persons Brahm Yadav, the outgoing councillor of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has urged the people to boycott the meat shops of the Muslims in the area and asked the Valmikis to set up such shops.

Haryana Government comes down heavily on the rioters

In wake of the violence which occurred in Nuh and later on spread to neighbouring areas such as Gurugram, the Haryana government came down heavily on the rioters. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar led government adopted the Yogi model of  teaching lessons to the culprits and bulldoped those houses from which the stone pelting was done on the peaceful devotees and the police. More than 250 illegal shanties were bulldozed and it has been reported that those residing in them were involved in the riots. Also more than 50 illegal shops have been razed by the bulldozers.

More than 200 arrests have been  made in Nuh violence and more than 55 first information reports have been filed.

During the violence, at least 2, 500 people were left stranded at a shiva temple. In order to prevent the spread of rumours, internet services were suspended in different parts of Haryana and section 144 was also imposed. Earlier, the restrictions were imposed till August 5. However, the administration has extended it till August 8 so as to prevent any untoward incidents of violence from reoccuring.
