“Madan Das ji had incredible memory power. He was an organisation-builder. He knew how to connect everyone with the organisation. Even he used to recognise people through their activities. Madan Das ji was always worried about how a full-time worker would settle down in his life after going back. Madan ji used to give affection and was also strict so that we do not go on the wrong path,” said Dattatreya Hosabale Ji, Sarkaryawah, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on July 31, 2023, at Shradhanjali Sabha of Madan Das Devi Ji, Veteran RSS Pracharak, former Sah Sarkaryavah and former National Organising Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), held at the JLN Stadium in New Delhi.

“Due to the demise of Madan ji, innumerable people experienced the pain and I am also one of them. Madandas Devi Ji was an incredible sculptor who had mastered the art of man-making and organisation-building. It is our responsibility to see the qualities of a human being and to give them affection and love. This is what I learnt from Madan ji. He taught a Karyakarta like me to develop a discipline worthy of organisation. This was in his behavior,” Dattatreya Hosabale added.

JP Nadda, National President of Bharatiya Janata Party, said, “Madan Das ji was very simple and gentle in nature. He used to worry about each worker of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He had the expertise to recognise the strength of a person. He used to visit places across the country and cultivate relations with different people through the visits. This is what we learnt from Madan ji. Therefore, following his path would be the true tribute to him.”

Notably, the event was headed by the presence of several dignitaries, including RSS, Sah Sarkaryavah Krishna Gopal Ji, Sah Sarkaryavah Arun Kumar Ji, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Ji, BJP National President JP Nadda Ji, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Ji, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Ji, Dharmendra Pradhan Ji, Piyush Goyal Ji, Anurag Thakur Ji, National organising secretary (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) Ashish Chauhan Ji, and other dignitaries who joined to pay homage to Shradheya Madan Das Devi Ji.

Veteran Madan Das Devi ji (81years) passed away at 5.00 AM on July 24 morning at Rashtrotthana Hospital, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru.

Madan Das Devi was born on July 9, 1942, at Karamala Village, Solhapur, Maharashtra. After schooling, he joined BMCC College for his higher education in 1959. He did his Post Graduation in Commerce. Later he did LLB Graduation in the reputed ILS Law College with Gold Medal. After that, he did his CA Course. He was closely associated with RSS during childhood through his brother Kushal Das Devi. He became ABVP functionary in 1964.

He became Secretary for Mumbai ABVP unit in 1966. He became a full-time worker of ABVP in 1968 and was deputed as Organising Secretary of Paschimanchal Kshetra (Western Zone) as announced in National Conference held at Karnavati, Gujarat. From 1970 to 1992, for 22 years, he was the National Organising Secretary of ABVP. Known for his organisational skills, Madan Das Devi was too popular among young cadres in those years. ABVP reached Taluks, Almost all College Campuses of Cities, and headed the expansion of ABVP units all over the country. He was keen to develop a qualitative Karyakartas team for ABVP throughout the country.

In 1991, Madan Das Devi became Akhila Bharatiya Pracharak Pramukh of RSS. In 1993, Madan Das Devi ji became Sahasarakaryavah (Joint General Secretary) of RSS. He was also the points person between Sangh and BJP during the Vajpayee Govt – from 1999-2004. In 2009, he became Akhila Bharatiya Karyakarini Sadasya of RSS.
